Riding to Break the Cycle:
ONE Day Pledge Ride Against Global Poverty
Global Agents for Change is hosting a one day fun, family pledge ride in support of 26 youth riding to Tijuana, Mexico and to raise awareness of global microcredit initiatives. The more adventurous cyclists are invited to continue on to White Rock!
When: Saturday, May 31st, 2008
Where: Vancouver, B.C. and White Rock B.C. (for the more adventurous)
What's Happening:
9:00 am - Registration at Vancouver Art Gallery (Georgia St.)
10:00 am - 10km Family Fun Ride
11:00 am - 1:00pm - Send-Off Celebration in Grandview Park (1657 Charles St. @ Commercial Dr.)
1:00 pm - 40km Ride to White Rock (optional)
Cost:
- $25* Individual minimum pledge
- $20* each for team of 5 or more
*Includes FREE "I'm an Agent" bamboo t-shirt
Registration:
To register, complete the online registration and pledge collection forms available at: www.globalafc.org/events.
We will also have in-person registration in front of Bikes on the Drive, 1350 Commercial Drive, on:
May 23 and May 24 (Fri/Sat): 12:00 - 2:00 pm
May 29 and May 30 (Thur/Fri): 4:00 - 6:00 pm

Oh G-d, just what we need - a bunch of do-good liberals driving their SUVs to a congregation site where they will ride bikes to stamp out poverty.

Marvelous! This is great! Everyone (except me) ought to send them money!
No doubt some who are familiar with my normal posting patterns are raising a suspicious eyebrow at this point, wondering where the thorn might be in this rosy behavior.
Simple. It helps increase overshoot, thus making the die-off more profound, more painful, and more destructive.

I'm a cyclist. An ex-road racer. I have too many bikes. I'm a bike snob.
But I HATE organized rides of any kind. ICK! These people are going to Tijuana, Mexico to make sure 6,670,022,692 humans stay out of poverty? Good....F&*!$#@ luck!
