How then, do we move backwards? How does a society, with most of the people having no clue of future events, move from being dependent on a vast and intertwined network of goods and services produced by the indigenous people of whereever, to a local resource and renewable energy based society, and do so in the timeframe available (20-30 years using the most liberal extimates, 10-20 with resonable estimates, 5-10 with worst case scenarios), all the while prices on everything increasing, world politics getting more militaristic, governments continuously reducing civil liberties, shortages of goods on the market and weather patterns resembling bad Hollywood movies?

American Nazism in the 40s
Has anyone read a book about America in the 40s and what might have happened if lindbergh was president and turned it into practically a nazi state? I don't think it's Phillip roth's A plot against america, although they are very similar. I was reading it a few weeks ago and lost it,and now can't remember the title or authjor. it would be very helpful if someone could remind me.
You are correct. It is Philip Roth's A Plot Against America. I tried googling for other books dealing with that subject, and the only other title that came up was It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis. But that book deals with a fictional fascist character based on Coughlin and Long, not Lindbergh.
