When will England pay reparations to the Irish descendents?

Since Canada has acknowledged its evils toward the native Indians years ago, will England ever follow suit for the Irish?

When you think about it, some big similarities:

English moved in and took over the land from the native Irish with no compensation.

They forced the Irish to stop using their native Gaelic tongue.

They did everything they could to force the Irish to abandon their Catholic faith and forbade native Irish schools on the basis of faith.

When times were tough they continued to export food to England from Ireland, and left so many to die of starvation. Others were forced, by poverty, out to strange lands and many families were broken up.

They frequently abrogated normal human rights to catch Irish dissidents and moved them right out of their native land just on the basis of their verbal or written words to others in their community. (Not even Canada did that to its natives.)

The loss of their identity coupled with poverty resulted in a great mental depression among many Irish and led many into alcohol as their refuge from the misery of life as they came to know it.

I am not writing this castigate the English, actually the present crop of you seem pretty decent, but, I am thinking, as I'm of Irish descent, I could use a good $10,000 to $40,000 in atonement money for the misery experienced by my great, great grandfathers. I am sure they will look down from heaven with happiness and feel so much better knowing one of their descendents can buy himself a new SUV, or at least a nice cruise with some lovely (and, hopefully, Catholic) women.

So, what say you present day English people, any chance you'd like to drop a wad of cash in my bank account? I will willingly accept your apologies (once accompanied by cold, hard cash of course).

I think any chance we had of compensation went out the window when our per capita income surpassed England's.

I've been waiting for america to do the same. immigrants of the scots and irish flavor were treated very poorly and their descendents should be compensated.ANd the french persecuted my christian ancestors, so say 25K from the brits, another 25K from the french and 50k from the US, along with humble apologies, my self esteem would be restored.

The US has a similiar history with the American Indian. They were a fine people, living in harmony with the land. The invaders showed up and booted them out.

Maybe it's just me, but wouldn't a nice reparation be when they actually leave the Island? I mean 26 counties is nice and all, but they're still occupying 6 counties. People don't usually like to pay reparations when they're still doing the thing they're paying reparations for.

Anyway, it's most definately one the darkest black pages, or I should say chapter in English history. From what I hear the English aren't taught much about it in history class...

We English will pay due reparations, right after receipt of payment from the descendants of the Roman Empire, and also after receipt of payment from the descendants of the Normans, who invaded us in 1066.

The Irish can form an orderly queue, with the Scots, Welsh, & the myriad of empire countries right behind. It will be a long queue mind you, several thousand million long, so best bring an umberella and a packed lunch. Oh - forget the lunch - It's on us - you see - There IS such a thing as a free lunch !!!!!!

We are a honest, affluent country (!!!!!!!!!), and will gladly pay reparations, complete with compound interest. Please bring along your proof of identity. A gory war wound will also guarrantee payment.

What a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE race we English are. We feel oh-so sorry for what we have done in the world. I honestly can't get to sleep at night. I am tortured by my forefathers history. I weep for the world. My children are emptying their piggy banks right now, crying and writhing.

We can call it quits. I believe the Irish invaded England in the 5th century. Hence St Patrick being a slave captured from Wales/England.

Being scotish I feel we need some compensation due to having to wear those kelts. I would forgive the English if someone would pay me.
