Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Perhaps you didn't notice but the Chinese have already sent a man into orbit, not long after the US space shuttle crashed in February 2003.

No, I was not aware of that. I just remember reading several months ago that they intended to launch a man into orbit by 2008. If they already have done this, then they have the capability to launch an ICBM to anywhere on the face of the earth, and do pose a significant threat to the well-being of the US. I just hope this only turns into a Cold War II, instead of WWIII.

Wasn't that a sub-orbital flight? (I may be wrong)

We're already got WW3, it started on 9-11. Question is how it will proceed and whether it will escalate.

I can't imagine the US would outright attack China. Too much economic blowback even if it succeeded. And, we would be facing those Russian nukes which are still targeted on us.

What I see here is the neocons being deliberately provocative, for God knows what ideological reason, maybe just to assert some kind of sense of superiority, I have no idea. Maybe Cheney will stand on a carrier flight deck and make a gesture for the cameras, and then people can say "there's Dick waving!"

But it strikes me as the height of stupidity. For being provocative, and also for giving China a close-up view of our naval operations on that scale, and giving China the ability to gather electronic intelligence on a huge scale, and starting an arms race with China.

And perhaps worst of all from a military point of view, concentrating a very large percentage of our naval forces in one place, as if to say "come & get 'em!"

And, I think this might have some connection with Bush's announcement of planned "redeployment"of American troops, that would pull them back out of Europe and South Korea, which appears to be something that will majorly p*ss off our allies there and potentially weaken NATO. What, exactly, I'm not sure, but the timing is interesting.

Iran: The nuclear elephant

When it comes to national security, the elephant in the room is Iran. Beneath the din of pumped up political rhetoric about the war on terrorism, the Islamic regime in Iran is resuming its march toward nuclear weapons.

Would someone do a little research on this?

Strike options by the U.S. or Israel are definately on the table here.........and by guess who, of course? PNAC and the neocons...and by when? 2005 as the "window of opportunity closes" and why? because of oil (peak) and Iran's deals with India and China...

This article outlines everything we have been discussing and more....

This is spooky. These neocons are bringing the world closer to global war every day....First Iraq, then Iran, then destabilization of SA (did anyone also happen to catch that SA now is on a State Dept list of countries repressing freedom of religion...no, duh, but why are they on there NOW, of all things....?)

They are crazy. We are on the road to madness...the parallels between America right now and Nazi Germany in 1939....right after the Sudentland, and before Poland...are becoming far too close to reality for comfort...

US debates military strikes on 'nuclear Iran'

US is already trying to set a UN security council deadline for Iran by Oct. 31 (conveniently before the election don't you think? In case GWB loses....or this is the "October Surprise...?)

And I bet that after an invasion and occupation of IRAN, evidence of WMD or weapons enrichment activities will be scarce....

These scenarios are really, really scary:.....

It is possible there may be a Russo/Sino/Indo/OPEC alliance against a US/UK/Israel/Partial Nato alliance if a move like this occurs..

If Israel strikes, we would probably see the use of the "oil weapon" and a new OPEC embargo...and then Venezuela would see a US-led coup or be invaded...

Strategically, US would then partition off the SE oil-producing region of SA from the rest....with a regional Shia v. Sunni split...civil wars, etc...

Will the world let this happen? Is Iran really a threat? They seem to have allowed complete and total inspections anywhere....have been working on a fairly good-faith basis with the IAEA....suspended any "dual-use" enrichment activities....Is the US trying to force/maneuver Iran into weapons development to justify an attack or invasion and subsequent control of their oil? Who was it that said: "Oil is too valuable to be left to the Arabs"??

Are we being made safer by all of this? Are we destabilizing everything?? Are we just fanning the flames for fanatical terrorists??...Would anyone be safe...??

Are the neocons, like Powell supposedly said, f***ing crazies?!??

Guess which neocon is leading the charge to provoke an "Iranian Crisis"

see this article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/iran/story/0,12858,1305598,00.html
Nuclear talks stall as US hardens line on Tehran

Quote:
The American line is being dictated by John Bolton, the hawkish under-secretary of state for counter-proliferation, who was in Europe last week and who was consulted on the EU draft last Friday in Geneva

My god, the motive behind this seems so blatantly obvious, but I doubt the mainstream media will pick up on it, and instead trumpet the "new threat" hook, line, and sinker...Scare tactics, demagogery, blah, blah, blah.

They're doing exactly the same thing with Iran as with Iraq (he, it worked before, so let's do it again!) 1) take an issue (Iran's desire to produce nuclear electricity 2) Manipulate opinion 2) Create tension to provoke a reaction from the targeted country and then point to it and say: "There, see, what did I tell you!" 3) Quote certain "experts" and produce fancy satellite intel showing some "suspicious" facitilities (Remember Sudan? Iraq?) 4) Bully, strong-arm, threaten, bribe, and manipulate some form of UN resolution 5) Create artficial deadlines and virtually unachievable or knowingly unacceptable conditions (Remember "The Line in the Sand" hype?) more in line with domestic political considerations than reality gives credence to 6) With or without resolution, attack.

Question: how would an Israeli attack on Iran before the elections impact U.S. opinion? Strategically, if Iran decides to fight back (gasp!), the US steps in looking like the good guy....The collusion in foreign policy between the U.S and Israel with regards to Iraq should be well-known, and would work the same for Iran.

This isn't conspiracy theory folks, this is exactly the blueprint that was been laid out by PNAC in 1999!! Why was anyone surprised with WWII and the Holocaust when Hitler laid it all out in "Mein Kampf?"

The strange thing is, I'm starting to worry less about peak oil in an energy loss sense and more about the Machiavellian power positioning because of it as the more powerful destabilizer...

Yes, I have Adobe .pdf. Pardon my igorance on this, but how does one set that up for access by others? Convert my .doc file to .pdf, then what? I've never done that before. Help, mister wizard!
