NYMEX Crude Oil (Light) ........................121.20 5.64 NYMEX NYH RBOB Gasoline (Globex) ...... 3.0421 .1318

Don’t worry, just a little bump - $70 is just around the corner. Short traders just keep making those margin calls, mortgage the house if you have to. Fortunes await you! PO is for pansies and doomers. At $70 short some more ..... it is going back to $22 .... the world is awash with oil ........ reality has nothing to do with it, its all in those charts!!!!!!!!!!

...but everyone needs to quit worrying and enjoy themselves a bit! You could die in a car crash tomorrow, or be diagnosed with cancer, and never even live to see peak oil, much less it's consequences. Even with the best laid plans, things might not go as you'd hoped. So take a break every once in a while and enjoy the last few minutes of the party, because there will never be another one like it.

I do cherish every day, fossil_fuel. Mainly because I know I can't get away from PO--everything from news to traffic to people planning their great futures--NOR can I change it. So I have my PO thoughts, visit this PO site, keep up with events--and remember that today is NOW. It's a heck of a balancing act. But being miserable all the time isn't gonna stop PO (or GW or climate change or economic collapse). So I'm not. Not ALL the time, anyway! Very Happy

I worry, but I don't get overly depressed. Anecdote: Recently, I got called to a motor vehicle accident in the middle of the night (I'm an EMT). Three teenagers were killed instantly when they crashed into a tree while attempting to flee the police.

The next day, I'm home weeding my onions, milking my cow, thinking how DAMNED FORTUNATE I have been for 45 years.

That crash is a metaphor for what's going to happen in the next five years. I actually feel extremely fortunate to have gotten wind of PO long before the general populous.

It is really too late to prepare for peak oil now unless you are already a farmer/rancher living off the land. So those of us in the cities and suburbs we are as good as dead and our days our numbered. Don't waste your last few years worrying and preparing only to delay the inescapable for a few months if you are lucky. This crisis will likely go nuclear in the end so it is best not to even worry about it. Just enjoy these last few years. Go for a quality life over quantity life. A short life spent enjoying every moment can be better then a long one spent worrying.

There are chances for such a scenario. Once the resource war in the Middle East really gets out of control could this be an explanation for why the Majan calender ends in 2012? I don't know much about that calender, possibly some other members on this forum here are better versed.

oh please. if the mayans were so damn smart, enough to accurately predict the end of the world, why couldn't they even predict that a couple hundred spanish goons would conquer their huge empire?

Yea, it's called the Long Count. The Long Count assumes a cyclical existence and supposedly this Long Count will end in fire. I think the exact date is December 23rd 2012.

Fire would make sense in regards to atomic weapons. In an earlier thread someone pointed out that Hawaii is on of the most remote places that one can be if a nuclear fall out takes place. Jay Hanson who retired his dieoff website in 2000 lives there of all places and it makes me wonder if he came to a conclusion that we seemingly have not been able to come to on this forum so far: Are we inevitably steering into a nuclear desaster?

Those old WWII era A-bombs are dangerous.

But it is these H-bombs that will bring about the end of the world.

It could all happen a lot sooner then even 2012. There is a conspiracy out there that says 9/11 was inside job. If that is true then it means the decision to fight the resource wars has already been made in the highest levels of government.

I've always been of the mind that the mayan clock just needs to be rewound. Why not? all non-battery operated clocks need somekind of rewinding...

I've heard someone say that solar flares are going to come to a climax in 2012 and it will wipe out all the computers, electronics etc... that would change the world as we know it....

If we are so low on oil its not like we could just replace all of them easily.

I've picked up somewhere that if an atomic- or hydrogen bomb is detonated high in the atmoshere above a city it will short circuit not only sensitive electronic devices but even wires in cars and the like. A city is not being destroyed that way but effetively 100% paralyzed.

It seems way more likely to me that the big resource war that we effectively have entered already will culminate in such a scenario rather than sudden solar flares to occur so strong that they will disrupt our activites completely.
The timing in particular with PO happening this decade begs for such a conclusion.
