If you jackass=es can't see how cryogencis, Dyson spheres, teleportation and warp drive offer us the perfect solutions to the problems of entropy and energy famine, then here are a few more for you to chew on:
1. Time Travel: Yes, like warp speed and teleportation, it is being researched. Here is a link proving so:
http://freespace.virgin.net/steve.preston/Time.html
It's amazingly simple: first, we travel to the future to see if this was even a problem. Most likely entropy turned out to be just a fad, so we document our findings and travel back to the early 21st century and report that all is okay in the future.
If - and this is a big if - entropy turns out to be a problem, we report that yes it was a problem.
This leaves us with a few possible solutions:
A. Time travel further into the future to see what solution the market came up with or
B. Start sending people back into other times where resources were abundant.
If we don't have enough time travel machines to make this a possibility then we might have to combine it with the cryogenics plan.
Additionally, we could bring back industrial leaders and captains of capitalism such as Henry Ford and John Rockefellear to advise us as to how to solve this problem.
2. Downloading Your Conscisouness Into a Solar-Powered Computer
This one is almost as good as the others - as soon as technology allows people the ability to download their life expereince into a computer, we hook a couple of servers up to some solar panels and let anybody afriad of the dieoff download their consciousness into the computer. Then, even if they die, it's no big deal.
Again, this technology may not be available today but in 5-10 years, I see no reason why not.
See people, entropy can be solved! There is no need to conserve energy or worry at all about this situation.

I think I'm starting to have a meltdown. I just can't wrap my mind around this. Is this guy actually friggin' serious? I'm too dense to figure this out. Surely he can't actually believe this nonsense?
Someone please clarify I think I'm gonna pass out

The only way to deal with trolls is to limit your reaction to reminding others not to respond to trolls. Ignore. Responding only provides positive re-inforcement...and will only eventually jerk you around more than the state fair taffy-puller, alright? so for your sanity, DON"T FEED THE TROLL BY RESPONDING. This is not a real debate.

I read a scifi book that had this as a basic premise. Pretty cool ideas in the book. The thing was that to get a perfect copy they had to take you apart molecule by molecule. In the book they had these robots controlled by the disembodied consiousnesses going around forcibly demolecularizing people to save the world.

I see a lot of sci-fi fans here.

Sometimes truth is stranger then fiction. Although my last comment was not meant to be taken seriously, I do believe that there are UFOs, and that they are from "someplace else."

This is a list of past shows of Feet 2 Fire. If you are unfamiliar with this kind of stuff, then you should listen to some of these shows. Matt Savinar did an interview once, which is how I found out about PO.

Now back to the topic. I am an advocate of space exploration. But right now, we need to solve the limits to growth problem. Entropy is a law of physics, and cannot be broken. no source of energy is truly limitless. Fusion might be a usable source of energy, but most experts do not expect it to be here for 50 years. We should not assume that some technological breakthrough will come along and save us. We must use much less energy in any case, because our lifestyle is killing the planet. If we cannot save our own world, then we have no buisness in space.

I can't explain the phenomenon of UFO's, and I think there is too much evidence to dimiss it, I have trouble with their ability to travel the vastness of space. Take a looooooooooooooooooonnnnng time to come from even the nearest star, you know. If they exist, how do they get around the speed of light barrier do you suppose?

Oh, sci-fi has plenty of answers, none of it very-the-scientific though. Take your pick : "warp" drive, "fold" drive, wormholes, singularities, "jump" gates ... every story has got its own spin on the idea. Which way do you prefer, the Star Trek way? Star Wars? Robotech? Babylon 5? There's always the cryogenic freeze-your-ass-across-the-galaxy way seen in the Alien series.
One of the more innovative ones has got to be the "probability drive" in the Hitch-hiker's Guide. Can't remember the exact details, but it's something like, the more improbable it is, the faster you'll get there ...

My personal favorite comes from DUNE. Foldspace technology. Instantaneous......thats what I'm talking about!
