Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.
It looks like West Wing is to have an episode featuring Peak Oil. The episode is to air sometime after November (after the elections, of course).
Hmmm.. If Uncle M. King is being discussed on prime time TV, maybe its past time to buy those 40 acres to plant and the pair of Belgian-Percheron draft horses to plow it with.
Six Feet Under carried several episodes in which one character repeatedly referred to Peak Oil (not by name, but he kept talking about running out of oil -- and potable water). Eventually they had the character start to go nuts, talk to himself, stock up on water and move into a bomb shelter.

Yeah, I saw those episodes and I was happy when George mentioned those things. He came off as very intelligent and concerned... at first. Now it looks like they're going to officially declare him a paranoid schizophrenic in the next season opener. Sad.

Reading the spoilers:
It just sounds like some aide suffers a bitch-fest from the alternative energy industry, and then accidentally runs over a Prius with a hummer. Not going to wake up the masses, but it'll make a nice punchline for a peak oil talk. _________________ "Our forces are now closer to the center of Baghdad than most American commuters are to their downtown office."
