Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Is there an echo round here? Lot's people popping their heads up after looking at their corporate books, "coo, it might be peaking?"

I believe there is.

This is the first person in an industry that will be negatively affected acknowledging it that I can remember. Or has there been anyone else?

So Simmons, Chevron etc aren't in an affected industry?

I'm still working on the principle that the point of peaking is of lower importance to (a) the plateau (b) supply unable to keep up with demand.

Where the peak is important is knowing that the next major event on the horizon is the cliff.

They are. They're directly in the energy industry though. I was thinking more along the lines of companies that aren't directly connected to energy. Simmons and Chevron might admit they're in a twilight industry, but there is still an awful lot of profit for them to make in the mean time before the lights go completely out. For auto manufacturers though, I don't see how they can really fit an honest silver lining into admiting peak oil is happening now.

It's the sort of thing for the MD to do after he has cashed in his share options.

But also: Hey it's not our cars are crap, it's just people can't afford to run them.

I worked at a major tire manufacturer until about a week ago... I told the directors upon my exit that one of the major reasons for me (as a young employee) leaving the company was the oil peak - and the devastating consequences it will most likely have on the auto industry over the next couple of decades. Hence, the tire industry is not a place for a young person to pursue a long-term career.... but, judging by the look in their eyes, I was talking over their heads.

Cool, did they say anything in response? Did they laugh or just staying silent and thinking you are nuts? Maybe they will remember you vividly quite soon...

What did you expect from tire workers?

But what are you pursuing now?
