Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

Current Energy News

Discussions related to "energy" news and media.

Try to make sure someone else has not already started a discussion on the same subject before you post. If someone has already started a discussion/topic on a particular subject or article, please post your information in a reply instead of starting a new topic. Make sure that your subject line is clear and will help others understand what your topic is about without requiring it be opened and read.

Post off-topic news in the Open Forum.

Thanks! Very Happy

Yeah I think that makes sense.

Things have got a little ragged on the Current Events forum as far as being only PO and energy related posts.

Makes no difference to me.

Although it could be argued that a major out break of BF would dramatically hit energy consumption so hard that it is an energy related subject but that is some what of a stretch.

The site owner thought it would be good idea to change the forum descriptions to "encourage" more energy discussions.

Guess it's time to move that thread to "Open Discussion"

I don't like the "Open Discussion" forums. They never appear in the "Last 24 Hours" list of topics.

How about making two current events forums. One for energy related and one for anything else.

What about the airlines thread? Is that "energy-related" enough?

Of course I have a bias with my Canary in the Mineshaft thread, but yes, it surely is a bellweather subject.

Use your discretion. Be flexible. It is a guideline.

Which is nothing more than the idea that "more" carriers of new ideas would help the matter. Jack the moderator started a thread recently that I refered to in a subsequent one as "techno fix" evaluating and recoginizing human ingenuity and inventions as prone to curve as anything else (peak sexuality with married couples, peak income with career driven individuals, peak OIL...)

And yet another reminder.

Please keep all bird flu related posts in the bird flu thread. Please try to tie new topics to energy in some way. Thanks!
