Looking for signs of awareness...
First:
Polish Energy Partners (PEP) plans to spend EUR 270-300 million on investments in the development of wind power over the next five years.
Some 80% of the sum will come from bank loans. "The management board has no plans of issuing new shares," said PEP president Richard Klein. The company's strategy envisages starting three new industrial energy outsourcing projects and producing 250 MWs of power from wind energy over the next five years. Grzegorz Skarżyński, PEP's deputy president, estimates that each of the outsourcing projects will consume from EUR 20 to 40 million, while the construction of a 1 MW wind farm costs over EUR 1 million. The first farm (producing 22 MWs) will start operating at the beginning of 2007. On Friday, PEP signed a contract with German Gamesa Wind, as general contractor. Yesterday, the firm's management board upheld the prognosis of zł.9 million net profit for 2005, and confirmed that the whole sum will be spend on dividends. The company also declared it intends to increase dividends payouts over the next few years by at least 10% per year.
Next:
Polmos Wrocław is preparing to begin the production of methyl esters, which is added to diesel fuels, a project worth some zł.100 million. "It fits well into the political program of the new government. The expected date for the finalization of the investment is at the turn of the third and fourth quarter of 2006," said Bogumiła Woźniak, from Polmos Wrocław press office. The company is to produce 150,000 tonnes of methyl esters annually and it has already signed agreements with the most significant domestic suppliers of required resources. However, market analysts say the company will need time to reach the planned production level, as other companies such as Biopaliwa, Solvent Dwory and Trzebinia refinery are also planning expansion into the sector.
In general, fuel costs seem to have remained fairly stable. Little or no change recently. Disclaimer: I don't drive, so maybe I am not paying enough attention.

A bit more:
Polish Oil and Gas (PGNiG) is preparing for one of the largest investments in the domestic-gas sector - the construction of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal.
Last week it held talks with its prospective partner Gaz de France. However, as a condition for a deal PGNiG is demanding it be given equal rights as a partner in the project. It is estimated the terminal will cost roughly zł.1.6 billion.
And this:
Gas worries
From Warsaw Business Journal
Puławy Nitrogen plants have recently imported 3,000 tonnes of ammonium chloride from Russia, the use of which limits the need for gas.
"We are also talking about alternate deliveries of natural gas," said ZA Puławy's president, Zygmunt Kwiatkowski, who also claimed that this was in response to a letter from PGNiG concerning the limitation of gas supplies.
