Me neither as I'll be cleaning up the aftermath of having soiled my shorts.

I hear the head of the Medellin drug cartel is also cautioning Americans about their drug dependancy! |

Anti-matter rocks.
And we found some on the other side of the moon possibly,
So we need to bring them home.

Let me guess, Odin, you have a lot of complex and unsolved challenges in your life that just never seem to resolve themselves, do you not?

I've heard rumors that he decided to remove the energy stuff from the speech tonight, and dedicate a whole speech to the topic of energy later. I've also heard rumors that it's going to be all about energy tonight.
Apparently, we have Kunstler to thank, if Dubya has seen the light about peak oil. Richard Rainwater is Dubya's former partner (when they owned the Texas Rangers). Rainwater read Kunstler's book, and that converted him to peak oil. A White House aid claims Rainwater has convinced Bush. |

Given this, I don't think it is unreasonable to suspect this aide and/or others inside the White House are lurking among us.

I know for sure what technology Bush is speaking about:
genetic modification of crops in order to obtain better or more ethanol.
No joking.
The guy must absolutely sell that crap. Nobody wants to eat it here in the free world, so they try to sell it for transports. Lot of money with patents and seeds.
Really: no joking. I've heard it on MSM at the time of Scotland G8. Maybe someone remembers. _________________ **no english mothertongue**

Rainwater himself might be lurking among us. He claimed in that Fortune interview that he spends five hours a day surfing peak oil Web sites. |

The above discussing on "technology" reminds me of the role of the state in third world development studies. During the 60's and 70's it was "more state!", during the 80's and 90's it was "less state!" and now it is "better state!".
We need more of the good technology and less of the bad. Now we just have to reach consensus on what is bad and what is good technology.
To avoid conflicts I say coal plants are bad and fuel cells are stupid. I think that should not be very controversial.
And I think you all know what I think is good technology. _________________ Peak oil is not an energy crisis. It is a liquid fuel crisis. |

That's right. I am Rainwater and I am beaming this message to you from the deck of my super yayt yacht uh (I can't even spell the word. That's how wealthy I really am) off the cost of Corsica on my way to Sardinia. Yeah you fellows down there in the trenches are doing great work getting the message out to important people like me so we can just put our entrepreneuroil minds together and figure out other ways to get fantastically wealthy helping all the dark races and other simple people get modern stuff like Planter's Peanuts, and used Nikes' God how I love being me _________________

If Mr. Rainwater is indeed visiting this site and has the President's ear, then he needs to tell him that one step should be to set real examples such as fulfilling his Dad's government mandate that an annual increasing percentage of goverment vehicles are powered by alternative fuels. That law was passed but never followed. My understanding is the lawsuit against the government for not following that law was thrown out of court.
Go figure. |

| For the sake of our country and the world, I really hope he does mention Peak oil. We need a slap in the face and the SOU is the perfect spot to do it. Could you imagine what would happen to the stock market tomorrow if he, err, the federal gov't, essentially acknowledged that we've reached peak oil? |

I have 'faith' that this will alleviate some of the stress of the peaking...
As I do wind...
And nuclear...
And geothermal/hydro/ocean/misc power...
It just won't add up to the amount the world wants...

Would the stock market invest heavily in coal/nuclear/wind companies and corporations that have to do with electric cars?
Or would everyone just pull out and destroy the economy? _________________ https://www.videogamevoters.org/ http://www.savetheinternet.com/ http://www.votersforpeace.us/index.jsp

I'm a doomer but I don't think that technology is evil in the least. I'm one of those people that has a job where I sometimes get handed a problem and told to solve it. Sometimes those problems are easy to solve. Sometimes it takes tons of time before I find a solution. Sometimes I can prove that it can't be solved. And far more often then I'd like to admit sometimes I spend insane amounts of time on the problem to get nowhere. My concern is that peak oil falls into the last category. A magic bullet probably won't exist but we'll never be able to prove it either way.
Current Solutions probably could solve our issues but we don't like whats involved with them and therefore won't start trying until it's too late.
Having said all of that I think I'll watch tonights speech. Bush can't be reelected, already has his off grid solar powered well stocked house and tons of money. Maybe he will come out and say we're screwed and here's what we think we can do to get through it. Whats he got to lose at this point? _________________ shame on us, doomed from the start

"America is addicted to Oil"
He'll really have my ear when he comes clean and admits he got a temporary fix for the "addiction" over in Iraq, our methadone in the middle east. |
