Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.
Does the Bush Administration Sincerely Think It Is Acting In The Best Interest Of The Majority Of Americans?
Absolutely. These people are selfless servants of the American People.

After doing my morning oil and political readings, then reading the above quotes from Bush, I'm utterly astounded at the concept he and his cronies have about the US position on Earth. The world should produce to directly feed US consumerism, and even if the US is interfering with a country they have no right to complain or talk back. Any contravention of these two concepts seems to throw BushCo into a frenzy of war talk and preparation. As a desparately concerned neighbour, it baffles me that now they are saying 57% support war on Iran, even after the Iraq debacle and being under Uncle Sam's eye themselves.
Someone please mitigate the situation!! I am glad to see India quietly saying Butt Out to the US, but I don't think the rest of the world is ready or willing to combine forces to contain the situation. _________________ "Hm hmmm, uh yeah, hm hmmm, sure, well, good luck with all that!"

I notice the American administration respects the outcome of Israeli elections, though the ruling party repeatedly denies Palestine's right to exist. Strange double standard.
I noticed that as well.
Why don't we let these Semitic tribes fight out which is their favorite god?
Then we can buy oil from whichever one is left standing at much reduced prices. _________________ Conform . Consume . Obey .

The point that should be mentioned in the media (but isn't) is that Bush is claiming these broad powers based on a "war on terrorism," which he himself admits is more of a broad concept than a definable strategic goal... and that it is a war that he has already said will last for a generation. So, he is claiming broad open-ended and unlawful abortion of balance of power as defined in the constitution, for a generation or so, yet holds that it is unpatriotic to debate his right or need to do so. Scary. __________________________________________________________

didn't mean it literally
WASHINGTON — One day after President Bush vowed to reduce America's dependence on Middle East oil by cutting 75% of imports from there by 2025, his energy secretary and national economic adviser said yesterday that the president didn't mean it literally.
What the president meant, they said, was that alternative fuels could displace an amount of oil imports equal to most of what America is expected to import from the Middle East in 2025.

Sounds realistic to me based on how much oil the ME will be producing for export due to depletion, and internal consumption, and what we will probably be able to afford come 2025.
Now that business about switch grass and hydrogen sounds like a bunch of baloney.

I am reading an old novel from 1935 by Sinclair LEwis, titled "It can't happen here". The tale deals with the rise of a demagogue to the presidency, one who deals off both sides of the deck so to speak, promising the best of the world to the rich and the poor, to the worker and the owner, but the populace does not get it, doesn't connect the dots. He also promotes "special powers" for the crisis time for himself.
One thing is interesting, the tone of the novel seems to imply that back then political discourse was more common among everyone. Today, in may circles people only chat politely about politics like they do the weather. Its probably even easier today to be that kind of a tyrant. Its not too chique these days to take a political stand.

Bush is in the pocket of the multinationals. Corporate rule and fascism go hand in hand. We are being set up.
I'm so glad I don't live in the US, but I can't say I'm safe from it. More and more I'm thinking New Zealand sounds very nice. _________________ "Ninety percent of everything is crap."

The US could reach the 75% goal tomorrow, simply by buying all their oil from Norway, Canada, Russia, Indonesia, Nigeria, etc. The rest of the world would have to buy their oil from the Mideast.
Wouldn't make a lot of difference, except for increased shipping costs.
