Meanwhile, keep watching for shortage reports, because we should start seeing some sneak in this week, if our doom-o-meter is calibrated correctly.

does the West (US) just not like the results? People voted, it appears to be landslide victory. Is this what the people want (stay close to Russia) or was it a sham? Or, is it just case of - US: we don't like the results! Is this like what happened in Palestine?

US: we want democracy!
People vote...
US: we don't like the results...

Either the US will need to take over the world, or they are just going to figure out a way to let people make their own choices (good, bad, ugly).

Dear lateStarter,

We know many from Belarus, freinds and family, nearly all voted for going closer to Russia, nearly all voted for a good economy, nearly all voted for freedom and managed capitalism, nearly all voted for Lukashenko...

I think the few who didn't vote for him were either unemployed or drunk. The ones that were building a life see unlimited opertunity, and gave up communism 15 years ago...

Nice to see democracy work...

Who says it needs America's okeydoky?

Nobody in Belarus or Russia or China is losing sleep because Bush hasn't given the OK...

This turning out like Venezuela and Russia, real democracy...

Americans get all upset when China gives 100,000 $ to Clinton's election, but when America pumps 400 million $ into Ukraine, sure, people will vote for the money... but it's doens't stick, now it leans back to what makes sense, Russia... Goergia will do the same because nothing is working... Saaskavilli has less brains than Bush...

most of my friends and family have commented that the majority of people in cities like Minsk and Brest tend to lean away from Lukashenko... while the rural folk overwhelming vote for him (the farm subsidy).

But.. 86% of the vote.... give me a break. If you're gonna fake the results... at least make it look believable. like we do in the US

Smile

Such,

Let me guess, you have faith that America will win Iraq, and you believe after a chunk of ice destroyes the space shuttle that America is go for mars...

Sorry to ruin your day, but based on my networking in Belarus, people trust Lukashenko. Realize Belarus has a higher % of litteracy than the US, people think in Belarus... They don't live like mice chasing after imports at walmart with credit cards finacned by China...

Belarus and Russia are on the move and gaining great monetum...
Some day, Mr Fairy Tale Saaskavilli will get back on track, maybe no, maybe Mr Saaskavilli will just give Bush a BJ... And Yukashenko, another winner, implimenting more Bush delusion with a great smile from Dr Rice...

Soon, these used car salesmen, Bush, Cheney, Rummy, and Rice will stop with this jig... By I don't think so... Nope, Americas, they are will to sacrifice their entire country for an SUV and more chicken lased with steriods and antibiotics...

Belarus, and Russia, they are too bussy working with America's bank, CHINA...

Lukashenka obviously cheated but he probably would have gotten a majority of votes even without cheating due to the strong economic growth.

And that was his big mistake... even Russians noded some "why would he has to show everybody that he cheated when he would have got it anyways"... I am puzzled why Russians never did the same about Putins 80+% votes.

Anyhow, these days Russians are saying "Belarus is like a suitcase without a handle - to inconvinient to carry, to valueable to ditch"...

So the now the EU and the US are protesting the results and demanding that the jailed opposition leaders be freed. Somehow I don't think that this one will follow the same path as in the Ukraine (not that the final result won't be the same). Any thoughts?
