I think this is the beginnings of an economy based on perpetual growth and fossil fuel energy running headlong into geological energy constraints. Basically I see an undulatory downward path for the rest of my life. From here out, I think any rallies in our economic condition are going to be met with spiking commodity prices that knock us right back down.

Anyway chuck, this thread has got pretty off topic, but the sooner a woman has a baby the better. They are pretty much like guinea pigs, you shouldn't allow a guinea pig to get pregnat after it is 8 months old because the bone fuse unless the gp has kids, after 8 months and the gp gets prego, when she delivers, it's all over, baby & mother is dead. My sister had her first baby when she was 29, kid couldn't come out so a cesarean was needed. Got prego again (again by the loving husband ofcourse) hole too small cesarean again. I think you need to give your wife a kid soon so she can have a natural birth or she never will and if it's accidently done, you might lose your wife if there isn't a doctor around. _________________

There are bones in a woman which break during childbirth, the sooner this done in a womans life the better if she is going to ever have more children. The longer on they wait to have children, the harder it is for those bones to break. _________________

Dukat,Clueless,and everyone else,
Thanks for the good advice. I'll definitely have a kid before her hole gets too small and too many bones break!??! lol
She's only 27 so I think she'll be ok....
I have been taking my mind off peak oil a lot these last two days and I feel great.
I just got finished watching some good sitcoms and some NBA basketball. Crossing my fingers the Spurs lose...My Mavs swept the Grizzlies
Going to play poker with friends on Saturday.
I'm considering never visiting here again? HA that's funny......
Do you guys ever wish you'd never learned about peak oil though? Don't you guys sometimes wish you were partying till the end fat, dumb, and happy instead of having the worrisome thoughts we all possess?
If I didn't find out when I did though I'd be in a house right now instead of renting cheap and I'd have the gas guzzler 250 HP Nissan Altima I was about to buy my wife. Boy she's still kinda mad at me that she's driving my 2002 Hyundai Elantra and that I didn't let her get a new car. All the money I'm saving, I'm investing. Which isn't much but it adds up. So I'm glad that I found out just because financially I'll be in much better shape, but other than that I wish I didn't know.....
Having a child is going to be fun and scary. I'm glad that I've made the decision I have, I just am not stupid. I know a post peak oil life with a child is going to be very, very hard. The joy the little guy is going to bring me and my wife, will be worth it till the day we die though.
Have you guys read WestTexas' studies from the oildrum on the future quick rate of declining exports from exporting countries? This study is what made me more doomerish lately. I hope the world will be a civilized one atleast in the future for me, my wife, and my child.
I'll keep you guys in touch for sure if she gets pregnant.
Adios again,
Chuck
p.s. Only in your dreams 12amps would I post pictures of my HOT WIFE on here

chuck, there was a post on the oil drum late last year done by one of the editors, that was a hubbert linearization of the world's production. it predicted that the peak was near, but that the decline rate would be less than 2% per annum once the peak hits. it made me much less doomerish - there will be time enough for coal gasification, ethanol, and such to make up for production shortfalls at least a decade or two after peak. according to that analysis, a hard crash is very unlikely - although of course there will be economic consequences and possibly war.
i too am interested about aliens and religion...especially after watching a video of a so-called 'prophet yahweh' summon UFOs on a las vegas news program. i have the video file if you're curious. it's also interesting to note that beelzebub translates as 'the lord of the things that flit about' or 'the lord of the flying things', and satan is called 'the prince of the powers of the air'. and i don't think it's a coincidence that global warming, peak oil, and an increase in UFO sightings seem to be converging on the same time frame.
anyway, be happy, have a child, and know that what will be, will be. we all have to die some day, regardless of what happens to the world, and we ought to come to terms with that fact sooner rather than later. personally i think it means we should repent and make peace with our creator, but do what you will.
Adoption is a perfectly viable solution for those who are PO aware and want kids. I wish more folks would consider it. _________________ "Ninety percent of everything is crap."

All that "bones breaking" business probably refers to the fact that, in a significant number of women, the last vertebra (called coccix) is at an akward angle and may break. It isn't anything to worry about, though I imagine it's one of the reasons childbirth hurts.
Childbirth is more likely to have complications if the woman is older, but I don't know that it has anything to do with pelvic bones.

From someone who has been through natural childbirth more than once, no the bones don't break (they only feel like they're breaking). And you can do natural childbirth over 30, over 30 is not old.

I'd hit it.
Just don't have like 20 kids or something. _________________ "Production of useful work is limited by the laws of thermodynamics, but the production of useless work seems to be unlimited."

The amazing part to me is that a post by someone who would ask advice from a bunch of strangers about something so personal as to being a parent, would gain this much interest off topic.
I think my upchuck was just playing the feminine side of peak oil.
Would any of you really want this jerkoff as a dad?
Jees, should I be a dad? Can any of you really imagine that the probability of peak oil would overcome your natural instinct to reproduce?
I think that this forum has been had by Mr. Upchuck who base down, has typical feelings of inadequacy about being a father.
I personally think that he should spare the world another unwanted child. His presentation to this forum is nothing I recognize when I wanted children, and I consider myself a 10+++ dad and grandad.

Gego a.k.a. self proclaimed super frickin' dad,
I don't think you realize how wrong some of your psychoanalysis really is.
I'm sure you'll think I'm just saying that though, and that you're right, because you're one of the most arrogant and rude people I've ever encountered.
Did you know about peak oil when you decided to have children. I would say the answer is "NO".
You probably don't even have a clue what is coming with peak oil. Have you been paying attention to the www.theoildrum.com predictions on declining oil exports? Westexas has been showing analysis of how oil exports from exporting countries are supposed to diminish much, much faster than a normal peak oil decline. This is due to their growing domestic consumption.
We're also losing the geopolitical battles in Eurasia and Latin America. China has been gaining influence in the world and Russia has been flexing their muscles to our allies. Are you clueless to what's going on?
Future resource wars for oil are becoming more and more likely every day.
Do you realize the U.S. dollar is on the verge of a major plunge? It has gone down about 10% in just the last couple months and there is speculation it could really tank hard soon. Do you even know what a trade imbalance is? Have you noticed we're close to a 7% deficit now? Do you know about our problems with Social security, Medicare, and our budget deficits? Do you realize we might have a housing bubble pop soon?
If you could comprehend how much trouble we're in as a nation in the U.S. you might understand my worries of having children at this time.
I think I'm just a caring and rightfully concerned person that is genuinely worried about what the world will be like for my future child.
You my friend, need to get a clue and get the stick out of your ass,
