System can be very slow

What's up with the system?

It just hangs a lot of the time now.

Is the server running backups or something?

Or is it simply heavy user activity?

Or perhaps even a denial of service attempt?

Whatever it is, it's a bit annoying.

yes ... I ... noticed ... the ... speed .... issue...as well.

I tried it in Firefox and that didnt work much better. Has PO.com gotten that much attention as to drag the server down?

You are right - sometimes it is painfully sloooooooooow - and I am on a 6Meg cable connection.

Yes, Peakoil.com is way too slow. I can't even check posts in a topic from time to time.

It's traffic related mostly.

...& we just finished an upgrade to a whompin dual-core box...

Yeah, it can be really slow.

However, I think we should appreciate all the work that has gone into and continues to go into this site. Thanks Aaron.

Also it should be interesting to note the increase in site traffic - the word is slowly getting out there.

The site has been very slow today. I wonder if there is something horrible going on, empty gas stations or worse.

It seems to be getting worse as the week goes on. Have we thought of letting those guys hack us again? Everything just flew along after that.

Are any changes planned or being concidered? It seems like there are few new posts outside of the Isreal flame wars in open topics but it's still painful to browse.
