Just curious as to what folks see progressing now between the Palestinians and Israel, and what they would expect from a new Palestinian government?
Far from being an expert, it seems like a tense time to me. What kind of jockeying for power will take place with the Palestinians? Will Israel try to push any advantage at a time of potential instability?
This, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the U.S. Presidents aggressive foreign policy, China and Russia in the middle east, Iran, etc. Almost seems like one of those "Perfect Storms" to me.
Olaf, I have no idea how geopolitics post-Arafat is going to go. I'm still nursing my suspicions about his sudden decline and death, and whether the real plan was to have him die BEFORE the election.
I used to call this stuff "conspiracy theory." Now I call it "it stinks in here, and here's why."
Maybe Israel will be too busy keeping the Palestinians in check to bother with Iran, at least for a few months. (And that IS the closest thing to an optimistic view you'll get out of me!)
