Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Secrets of the Dead . The Great Fire of Rome | PBS

Quote:

"On the night of July 19, 64 AD, a fire broke out among the shops lining the Circus Maximus, Rome's mammoth chariot stadium. In a city of two million, there was nothing unusual about such a fire -- the sweltering summer heat kindled conflagrations around Rome on a regular basis, particularly in the slums that covered much of the city. Knowing this, Nero himself was miles away in the cooler coastal resort of Antium. Yet this was no ordinary fire. The flames raged for six days before coming under control; then the fire reignited and burned for another three. When the smoke cleared, ten of Rome's fourteen districts were in ruin. The 800-year-old Temple of Jupiter Stator and the Atrium Vestae, the hearth of the Vestal Virgins, were gone. Two thirds of Rome had been destroyed.

History has blamed Nero for the disaster, implying he started the fire so that he could bypass the senate and rebuild Rome to his liking."

Mr. Rove has declared that 2004 was his last campaign, but he'd be Dubya's special advisor for 4 more years--if Dubya asks! Rolling Eyes

Guess with all the damage done, ol' Karl'll want to retire to some save haven from the trouble he's caused...not that I'm sure there IS one....

A point of historical accuracy: it is not clear that Nero was responsible for the fire. See the wikipedia article for information:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nero#Disturbed_Peace

We have to be careful with our facts before we claim that the US capital is about to be renamed "Bushopolis".

I've never been able to burn a CD with Bush. In fact. havent heard of that app. Nero works very well for burning CD's and DVD's however.

It sure does! While Nero was out of the city when it burned, Bush was safely out of Washington during the attacks of 2001-09-11.

I prefer to compare the rise of Bush to the rise of Hitler. Reichstag fire and 2001-09-11; Enabling Acts and Patriot Acts; Anschluss of Austria and attack on Iraq (regime change). A lot more similarities then differences.

though it is done by unwriten law(or so it seems to me) that who ever mentions hitler or the nazi's in a serious discusion loses it by default.

Total and Absolute Nonsense. Then if someone out there is emulating NAZI methods, no one can challenge them.

See:

Also you maybe here to win arguments, but I'm not. I'm here to present information and let those who see it, either agree or disagree with it.

Ahem... I have no problem discussing Fascism, Nazi's and the like, but for reference:

Godwin's Law /prov./ [Usenet] "As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one." There is a tradition in many groups that, once this occurs, that thread is over, and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever argument was in progress. Godwin's Law thus practically guarantees the existence of an upper bound on thread length in those groups.

I think we have to make exceptions for certain topics :P

I guess it's too much to hope that the Nero/Bush comparison could mean that Dubya will burn down Washington, D.C.?

Yeah, I thought it was.... Razz

And here's George's Second Law of Communication:

"As any conversation in any medium grows longer, the probability of encountering any given word or concept approaches 1.0."

(And my First Law of Communication is: "The greater the number of means by which an individual may be reached, the lower the probability of reaching them at any given time via any means whatsoever.")
