Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Am interested to talk to any Aussies who are PO aware about what they know/think about the PO issue and what they are planning to do to prepare for the relentless energy decline. _________________ Sometimes I wish that I too could live in blissful ignorance... but then I realise, knowing is my only advantage.

I still need someone who is peak oil aware to help me out with my kid, my house, and my peak oil preparations. I can offer room, board, and a little bit of cash. Please PM me for more information. I know there are a lot of young people out there who are wanting to get somewhere safer and prep but don't have a lot of money, and this is an opportunity for you. Please don't just write it off because it's in Texas, either. _________________ "Every junkie's like a setting sun..." - Neil Young

Gee, kid, house, preparations, Texas... that sounds pretty picky. When you move, get rid of the house, or your kid grows up, let us know. :-)
Seriously, I'd love to help if you were in my neighborhood. I think a lot of the people who are seriously preparing have fled places like Texas. Heck, some of us have fled fairly peak-oil-friendly places like Portland! :-) _________________ :::: Jan Steinman, Communication Steward, EcoReality, a forming sustainable community. And other people who are seriously preparing have fled to places like Texas. Can we please have that discussion somewhere else? Thanks. _________________ "Every junkie's like a setting sun..." - Neil Young

Bytesmith, Fellow gulf islander--Hi again. How is Salt Spring? Did you catch Catherine Austin Fitts a few weeks back? She was at ArtSpring Center.

Not bad! Still a bit of snow where it avalanched off the metal roof and made a big pile -- right in front of the biodiesel processor, so we haven't been brewing lately. :-)

Damn, I missed that! I was really looking forward to it, but something came up, and I couldn't make it. Next time.
Perhaps we should try to organize an SGI meet-up of peakers? Or you're welcome to come to one of our coop meetings -- see the "Meetings" link on the URL below. _________________ :::: Jan Steinman, Communication Steward, EcoReality, a forming sustainable community. Be the change! ::::

Good to hear everything's going well, Bytesmith. I'd like to attend a meeting of your co-op. You can read about Catherine AFitts talk in Salt Spring in the newest issue of Common Ground magazine. Or, here's the article online:
by Geoff Olson
While unloading my backpack from a float plane on Salt Spring Island, the pilot asks me why I’ve flown out on such a rainy, dismal day. I explain that I’m a writer and I’ve come to hear a talk from someone by the name of Catherine Austin Fitts. “Oh, Catherine,” he says with a smile. As we enter the airline office, the pilot animatedly explains the reason for my trip to the staff. “Catherine’s an amazing woman,” responds a woman at the desk. “I wish I could accomplish in my life half of what’s she’s done in hers.”
Thanks for the Common Ground link. It's an awesome journal. We pick it up whenever we see a new one, but haven't seen fit to subscribe. _________________ :::: Jan Steinman, Communication Steward, EcoReality, a forming sustainable community. Be the change! ::::

I apologize for being snide. Obviously, we all have our own situations to cope with, and have differing ideas about what makes a good location.
Thank you, I appreciate that. It's my belief that we need ecologically-minded people preparing lifeboats in as many places and as many ways as possible. Hopefully some of us (and/or our descendents) will survive and enjoy a better future. _________________ "Every junkie's like a setting sun..." - Neil Young

I'm coming to New York on a business trip for a couple of days, and will be free in the evening of Wednesday 25th April. It would be nice to meet up with some of you US peakers if I could. Post here or PM me.
