Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Yet another reason to dislike this jerk. Let's see here: weak on the environment, anti-Second Amendment, Israel firster, pro-police state (he voted to reauthorize the PATRIOT act), pro-illegal immigration, pro-"affirmative action" (i.e., punish whitey for the sins of their fathers). Yep, typical Democrat. I can see why they are gushing all over this guy.

Obama on the issues

May be we are dealing with Osama here?

I lost my politics Sad
I lost it sometime before the election but voted anyways.....
No one told me it would feel like this.
I always expected it to be cool and groovy but instead it hurt so much I just wanted it to be over with.
The politician seemed to enjoy it.
I took a test and it turned out positive.
I think I will name it "Anarchy" or maybe "Stew".

EROEI is not important.

LEROLEI is, and so is plain old ROI.

That really is not a problem with coal.
EROI doesn't mean anything to us when we have so much coal!
Why, we can just burn many times more than we really use!
No problem.

We would just have to run three times as many plants, trains and hire 3 times as many people! Great for the economy!

but we have plenty of coal so , no problem.
After burning so much coal, and having soot dropping off our rafters, we could all look like Obama!

Oh, and we could make a good income on "I love New York" gas masks with the little heart on them.

Please send donations to Venusian carbon dioxide conversion
Think tank.

"Transforming your planet to a pretty white bicarbonate ball"
"Buffer those oceans!"

P.S. Acid rain would really helpn our auto industry. They are using more and more aluminum in autos, and this will totally dissolve the cars in just a few months!
Cars would have to be repurchased yearly!

Bottom line - more subsidies for fossil fuels.

This is a brilliant political move for Obama.

- The typical American has no idea how much coal is left, or about exponential consumption rates, etc. He will say 'we have enough coal for 300 years' and people will fall for it.

- Environmentalists are on his side no matter who the republicans pick, so the CO2 issue will be ignored.

- People who hate big oil will fall for it

- People who hate importing from middle east countries will fall for it

- People who want more American "jobs" will fall for it

- People in heavy coal states will fall for it

- People tired of high gas prices will fall for it

That is a ton of people falling for a bad idea that could get him elected President.

((Sigh)) Too bad...

The only major politician that ever has come across halfway coherent and consistent on a pressing global issue was Al Gore. Politically popular or not he was out there talking about it.

So where is the Al Gore of Peak Oil/Energy? Since Obama is unable or unwilling to carry the torch, any nomination for up-and-comers??

Kez, you make some excellent points. It all makes complete sense. And it just confirms my utter loathing of the subhuman scum that infest DC.

Carry the torch. How much CO2 will that add to the atmosphere?

You guys that think politicians are going to solve this problem do not understand the problem or the nature of democratic politics. The problem does not have a solution and politicians are mainly interested in staying in power, and not for the benefit of the average man.

This legislation was not intended to solve an energy problem; it came from two Senators whose states produce coal; it is pork.

I really hope they dont discover any coal in oregon. We already have enough problems with clearcutting. We don't need the actual mountains as well as the trees removed.

This is disgusting and I can't believe people can actually do this and think its ok or even worth it.

What is mountain top removal mining?:
