Hi, I'm much more of a forumer than a chatter but it would be cool to have a little chatroom, maybe with designated discussions and discussion times, and also just a causal place where people can "hang out" at in the background (occasionally popping in to see if anything interesting is going on), while at work or otherwise engaged on the vast Internet at any time.
Wow, was that one sentence? I really need to learn to use semi-colons.
Anyway, what does everything think of this idea? _________________ My PO Amazon store (shameless plug).

I recommend using Peakspeak. It's right there on the left sidebar, funny how so many of the regulars don't know about it.
Yes, it's mainly there for voice communication but many use it more like text chat.
You do have to download a program to make it work. Don't worry though, it's tiny, easy to use and runs pretty smooth.
Any of the moderators or regulars in there will happily coach you, you'll be a pro in five minutes or less. Send me a PM if you're interested, maybe we can set up a time. _________________ "He who makes no mistakes isn't trying hard enough" Genghis Khan

Thanks Aimrehtopyh. I'm on the mIRC chat now, I haven't quite figured out PeakSpeak. _________________ My PO Amazon store (shameless plug).

I'll hang on the mIRC chat while I'm doing other things.
Most evenings PST, usually. _________________ My PO Amazon store (shameless plug).

I went in there once and it felt like I wandered into some United Nations conference. |

It's not always like that. We spend plenty of time talking about sex, booze, and our personal lives. Even when we do get heavy into politics and peak oil you shouldn't take us too seriously. Please, give it three strikes. If you don't find it stimulating and/or fun by the third try then maybe it's not for you. _________________ "He who makes no mistakes isn't trying hard enough" Genghis Khan

I think a lot of people here are introverts - myself included. Sometimes TS can be a little scary. |

I used to be the same way, so I understand.
Smooth talking and thinking on your feet are valuable skills, PO or no PO. Honing those skills in a non-competitve meeting of like-minded peers sounds pretty sweet to me. _________________ "He who makes no mistakes isn't trying hard enough" Genghis Khan

Yeah come on in so we can verbally abuse you. Personally I like to beat people over the head with an argument.... When I'm not being generally abrasive or contrary....

TeamSpeak rocks.
You should definitely test it out.
We are rarely that serious, my friend.
Usually we talk about absurd End Of The World scenarios with Polestar, often involving Mad Max and Zombie Biker gangs. _________________ "www.peakoil.com is the Myspace of the Apocalypse." |
