How then, do we move backwards? How does a society, with most of the people having no clue of future events, move from being dependent on a vast and intertwined network of goods and services produced by the indigenous people of whereever, to a local resource and renewable energy based society, and do so in the timeframe available (20-30 years using the most liberal extimates, 10-20 with resonable estimates, 5-10 with worst case scenarios), all the while prices on everything increasing, world politics getting more militaristic, governments continuously reducing civil liberties, shortages of goods on the market and weather patterns resembling bad Hollywood movies?

My curiosity has finally gotten the best of me. Why on earth does the date stamp on the upper right of all the pages reflect reality while at the same time the date stamps for all the posts show it being tomorrow?
Perhaps this only shows up on my display? I doubt it. What really astounds me is that this situation goes on and on. What is the problem?

Aaron- That song has been playing in my head for nearly forty years.
I can forgive many things. But what I will never forgive is Matt Savinar telling me about Peak Oil some years ago and jolting me out of my very comfortable hippy coma which I had successfully maintained for all these many years. Oh well, time to grow up. It comes to us all sooner or later.

I'm trying to deal with some niggling problems with the old computer today (such as Firefox crashing about every fifteen minutes) so I thought that I would run this thing about the time/date stamps by you again.
Rereading the original posts on this makes me wonder if there was perhaps a misunderstanding about the problem. Let's see if I can state the problem more clearly. (Yes, the problem still exists). The date stamp at the upper right hand corner of PeakOil.com is correct. For instance, today is in fact August 7, 2007. However, the time/date stamps for the posts are way off. It has nothing to do with time zones as far as I can figure. For instance, It is now 3:56 P.M. , August 7, 2007. This time is correct. I know what time it is. The latest time/date stamp for one of the posts on the other hand, is around 7:00 A.M. , August 8, 2007. Big difference (over 12 hours). In the future.
OK. One more time, what gives? When I submit this post it will show up over 12 hours into the future at the site. Brain aneurrism? Early onset Alzzeimer's? Poor spelling skills? This thing has become like bad dandruff, it just won't go away.

You might have the correct number of timezones set, but in the wrong direction. I had a problem where I had set -8 when I really needed +8 or something. Try flipping the numbers on yours. _________________ We stand here, as the light of other days surrounds us.

Bingo! Thanks Cobra. You have struck well. It was one of those forest/trees things apparently.
