We cannot drill our way out of this oil crisis. Since 2000, oil companies working in the U.S. have doubled the number of wells drilled per year.

Although increased drilling has added new oil to the nation's supply, it has not done so fast enough to offset the terminal decline of existing fields.

We are going to have to import more of our oil. Period.

The Environmental Forum is for discussions related to the direct environmental impacts of energy exploitation, development and use, such as global warming, tar sands pollution, bio-fuels deforestation, coal strip mining, roll-back of environmental laws, drilling and mining of sensitive areas, population overshoot, etc. This includes the development of renewables.

The Environment Forum is not for general environmental topics discussion. Post those threads in the Open Forum.

As we explore the issues of hydrocarbon depletion, we want to keep the threads with in depth discussion on the environmental impacts of energy development and use on the front page, so try to make sure someone else has not already started a discussion on the same subject or news before you post.

Now, if you wish to start a discussion thread about certain aspects of an article that's another thing, go ahead and start a thread, but don't just post a news/article link as a thread topic. Posts containing only a quote and a news link should be posted to Current Energy News or to an existing thread with the same topic.

Since global warming is on the front burner, news links on global warming are best placed in the Global Warming News links thread at the top of the forum created for that purpose.

Posts deemed not appropriate to this forum's discussion will be moved.

Thanks!

MQ

Since when is this the policy? (Bullshit if you ask me.) And I thought you had given up your moderator status. Are you a moderator or not?

I figure I will just continue to post almost everything in the open forum and if it belongs somewhere else a mod will move it Smile

Why you gotta be all hatin' Loki? Cool

It has always been the policy and the intent of this forum.

Now it is clarified.

And no, I no longer moderate the forums.
