| In response to the cars they have in europe most countries won't allow any mods to the vehicles that were not stock. We have a different auto culture here in the states and the goverment is the last thing I want telling me how to live my life or how to have fun. Stiffeling this market will only hurt our economy, If you want the opposite and plenty Americans do, they will use thier creativity to make cars go faster, better, and look good. My '06 Charger with a 5.7 HEMI gets 22 to 25 mile per gal. Thats better than alot of cars today. Oh I drive about 4500 miles a month on average so the mpg ratings are pretty accurate. If I want to drive a car dictateted by the gov or someone else , I'll move to a communist country. |

You drive on roads designed, built and maintained by the government, and your only concern is your free choice of what to drive on them?
Talk about irony. The interstate highway system is the largest communist project ever undertaken, and it seems to make gearheads like yourself quite happy. _________________ “I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. I actually agree. Government shouldn't be forcing high mileage vehicles down everyone's throats. Government should simply get out of the way and let the market work. When we hit $10/gallon if someone really wants to drop $50 to drive 100 miles thats their choice. Of course I do believe the US gov should be taxing gas at a more reasonable rate to cover some of the expenses involved in burning gas.
Back on topic, it looks like the highend versions of these cars are very limited production models. There probably is a market for them at that level. The problem is the millions of other people that can't find anything domestic that makes sense to buy. Thats why these companies bleed cash. _________________ shame on us, doomed from the start

Check this beauty out, a testament to efficiency and environmental consciousness. Also a brilliant marketing and management move too I might add.

Several hundred years from now, this picture will be discovered by archeologists and placed in a museum. They will build a scale replica of the truck to show to children, in the special exhibit on "Hydrocarbon Man."
It will be captioned with something like:
At the end of the oil age, hydrocarbon man built the biggest machines, like this "Ford Truck" (pictured above). In the hopes of pleasing the oil gods, so they would bring forth great flowing fields of "light sweet crude oil." The most precious of elixirs.
The oil gods however did not pay heed to the giant shiny machines, as the elephant fields grew tired. Soothsayers said the center of the earth was full of oil, an infinite supply of bubbly crude oil, all for their taking. This made some of the oil people feel better, but the elephant fields started to run dry.
The oil people became desperate and started to feed their own food to the machines. They made themselves feel better by saying they were "saving the earth" with "eco" fuels, but they were only able to save the machines, for a short time. The oil people went hungry and the age of hydrocarbon man came to an end. |

It's not a production model, but dam! Wrong was their intention and they achieved it!

| That truck reminds me of the Dildozer from "Idiocracy." It's hard to believe people are really that stupid. |

It's hard to believe people are really that stupid. | Well, from what I heard Idiocracy was under promoted because it's backers felt it was too clearly a satirisation of American culture today. Poorly planned roads that lead nowhere, a general public that can't think or spell, doctors that rely on tests they often hardly understand...
Real life dignified soldiers doing honorable work, just like that movie...
Real life?
From Movie
Fox made it into that movie...
And what you've all been waiting for, The Dildozer!

| I've seen few Ford F-650 Super Trucks in my area pulling boats and horse trailers. Some of them have higher fuel efficiency than the countless gas powered service vans and gas powered 4WD trucks and SUVs. At least some of the owners are using for a commercial or utility purpose, unlike the soccer moms driving tank sized SUVs several hundred miles per week as commuter cars. |

This has me confused...I thought the picture was of one of Santa's missing elves next to a normal sized car. In my mind that is much more believable than all you saying that that a reputable company facing the challenge of Peak Oil would make a monster "car". _________________ We should teach our children the 4-Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rejoice. |

If I work hard why shouldn't I buy what I like. Isn't that the whole point of freedom in a capitalist society.
Why if I strike it big I can even have my own private jet.
What NEXT I can't have a large screen TV and a nice big home?
Please stop whining, if you can't provide value and compete then ultimately you don't have a right to eat let alone enjoy the goodies of a free capitalist society. _________________ "Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box."

But on the other hand Concerned, you have a point. If everyone had these in a gas crisis, I can imagine these monsters running over and eating small cars... It would be real life MAD MAX!!!
