This is shaping up to be a very interesting election year:

Huckabee, Obama have huge night in Iowa

So much for Hillary's unhindered march to the White House. Is America ready for a President that is not of northern European extraction? Would we actually put an ordained Southern Baptist minister in the Oval Office? Will Hillary manage to pull it off in the end? Is Romney wasting his money? Will Edwards surprise us all?

Amazing spread between Ob/sama & Hill. Once again it's like the media is in a parallel universe. Still don't look forward to higher FICA under Os/bama while our bosses get a free ride.

Hello? A guy who has a Kenyan dad just won the Democratic Party's Iowa primary.

Are we all aware of the significance of that?

Remember Howard Dean? I wouldn't count on either Barack Obama or Mike Huckabee being their party's presidential candidate, let alone President of the U.S. just yet. Iowa is an odd situation, as it uses a caucus instead of a straight polling. Wait til New Hampshire.

One of the first comments I heard on the boob tube last night as results came in was that we had some kind of major change in the political landscape of America because Huckabee and Obama were in the lead.

Relatively predictable with a little poll watching and a bit of history. Southern governors tend to break out even with little resources. Hilleary has been going down in the polls. As one gets closer to her she seems more distasteful, great at distance, nasty up close.

Somewhat of a misstatement. Since most of the people in the US claim to be religious and freaks are by definition the minority, perhaps a more accurate statement would be:
the religious guys versus the freaks.

It should be interesting to watch how Huckabee does in New Hampshire (Jan 8 ) and Michigan (Jan 15). Although our primary in Michigan is almost hopelessly fubar-ed because the state decided to move it up so early. On the Dem side, for instance, you can't vote for Obama because he's not on the ticket. Each party took a different action to censure Michigan and all the candidates had to choose whether to abide by the party or not.

I'm not very surprised that Obama beat Clinton in Iowa. Hillary just doesn't do it for me, she's too wishy washy. Any democrat that voted for the Iraq war is just a phony, wishy washy person lacking principles. Those who stand up, despite unpopularity and stand by their principles are leadership material. In my opinion, it really is that simple. Being a good leader means being able to make tough decisions and you need a backbone for that. Otherwise, you will be used like a puppet by the various puppet masters around you.

Huck a be doesn't surprize me either. It's more of the same for republicans.
