The post-peak oil, post-housing bust economy is already driving most crazy, and we won't even get to the food riot stage for maybe two more years.

I went to school with an Iraqi prince during that time. His family believes that Saddam thought he could take over Iraq w/o American interference as payment for his puppet regime (read control over their oil). If so, they double crossed him.

I don't think we'll ever know the real story - but thought I'd mention it in case it fits w/anyone else's information.

Oh well that explains your refusal to see it all in it's proper perspective. But that's o.k. because many Canadians are still in denial too. I was just wondering about your April Glaspie moment there when you said that Saddam invaded the whole country as opposed to just going in and being a nice guy and shooting up the slant drilling rigs.

Silly me.

I guess people from Country X can never appreciate the Truth, huh?

I don't know which country you refer to as country x but I have made it clear that many Canadians are still in denial too. A large part of those people are just uninformed of course but for those who are somewhat informed like yourself, there is no excuse. Unless just ignoring reality or refusing to investigate the facts are a plausible excuse.

I don't blame the British any more than I do Canadians or any other country which was conned into being a part of the "colalition of the willing'. It's hard to admit that we were duped by the US but most certainly, duped we were. Now's the time to start adding your voice to reveal it all for what it was. Duped twice in the case of the British of course but it runs consistent with your historical record on getting what you want through wars. And hey, nobody fails to recognize that you had a big favour to return. Maybe it's harder for you people to break the cycle. I know from your initial response to the issue that you want to.

Let me try again: Tony Blair supporter? Brown supporter?

Hey, don't mind me, I'm just an uppity colonial.

That brought a smile to my face.

I am not actually sure what it is you are asking me to believe. We seem to be disagreeing on quite minor details here. Both Iraq wars were about oil, the case sold in 2003 was contrived, yes? That settled, whatever differences arise are then minor compared to the gulf of understanding with people who believe it is about fighting terrorism abroad or spreading democracy.

That's great twilight, we now both agree it was a complete setup which was orchestrated in order to destroy Iraq's military power and eliminate the threat of any power emerging in the ME. You will obviously agree that when we look at US meddling in the earlier Iran/Iraq war that all the pieces fell into place for the Gulf war.

And I'm glad to see that all the other people on this forum seem to be in agreement. Or at least silent on the issue so far. We'll see.

Or on the other hand, maybe they just don't want to think about it too much.
