That's worked pretty damn well since, um, recorded history began. I figure it'll continue to work for the foreseeable future. I personally don't have much use for women like this (OK, one use), but lots of men are attracted to face paint and shiny bits of metal.
Last year I wrote a post called:
"What ever happened to all the natural girls?"
Got banned at a couple of forums for it, so will not post it here.

Women who have fantasies about prostituting themselves, usually have vague notions about romping with Fabio-like studs, through post apocalyptic playgrounds. The truth looks more like Flabbio. He of the torn undershirt, boxer shorts and bandy legs; bitching about his repossessed SUV. All this with the deep romanticism of a trailer park for a backdrop. Imagine having to "make love" with this hairy toad while he sings "She's got le-e-egs, and she knows how to use 'em" by ZZtop.
One day of that and I would be screaming "Ewwwww!" for the rest of my born days
Many of us use fantasy as escape vehicles If our present life is painful, isn't it much easier to fantasize about something else than stay in the hear and now?
I try and catch myself when I practice this escapism and work to bring my thoughts back to the present. Whenever the fantasy starts I check to see what I am escaping from? Why do I fixate on something else instead of where I'm at?
Anyway got to go and 'escape' back to work. Will check back when I get some free time.

Well, I wouldn't call myself a survivalist (unless you mean do I mean to survive, then yes) but I am certainly attempting to prepare for either a lower energy lifestyle and utter collapse!
Unfortunately, the beginning recession has already hit me - I've been out of work for 6 months, but surviving on unemployment insurance which is just about finished. This sucks - I've applied for over 150 jobs. I'm hoping to get a tax return and start my own business and get on with things. I
n the meantime, I'm using my time well - to store seeds and plan a large container garden, to make contacts, to spend time with my little son, who has been diagnosed with learning disorders, social delays, ADHD and profound deafness in one ear (which is upsetting, but on the other hand he cannot be drafted for some idiots war some day).
The most useful thing I am doing is making him a scrapbook with various survival oriented instructions (how to felt wool, how to make a raised bed garden, how to build a cistern, how to save seed, how to make a solar oven etc) while I have the time and all the scrapbooking stuff from years' past. I'm also making one for my best friend and considering making more for my neice and nephew.
I'm also considering relocating. Again. I'd like to find a teaching community and build a kick-ass small cob cottage and have a big garden, chickens and rabbits. That's my dream.

But remember you have the opportunity to make your own luck. You are in the situation most of us will face at some point if the forecasts here are close to correct.
On the Silver Lining side, you already are forced to make a big change and possess at least a glimpse of an insight into our future to help you decide your next step -- and time is still young.
Most would just be looking for another, same-old-job., but I bet you won't

Yep, Jackie rocks.
Am I a survivalist? Well, I've never applied the term to myself, but my brother used to call me Burt Gummer (anyone remember the movie?). These days, when he needs advice on any garden related issue, he calls me Mother Nature.
I don't know whether we'll survive or not. Ultimately, of course, none of us will. But, I'm doing the best I can to make sure we survive in the medium term in the most comfortable way possible.

In the area where I live, there are plenty of peasant girls living in surrounding villages.
They do not bother to wear much of fancy clothes (as they cannot afford these), they are living in derelict houses, and some of them have to milk few cows every morning.
They don't have any survival gadgetry, solar heating, electric cars, guns, piles of gold in a basement etc.
They are all unemployed and most of their boyfriends/husbands are also unemployed.
They are grumbling all the time about "not enough money" and yet whenever I meet anyone of them, she is always appearing in good health, regardless of weather.
These are real survivalists but they don't know it yet.

Very true EU. They have what's called a "green box" site near me. Basically a bunch of dumpsters to encourage people not to throw their trash down some gulley. Every time I go down to throw my trash out, there's at least one or two people searching the dumpsters for usable things they can pull out and take home. My landlord refers to the green box site as "the mall". These are definitely not people that would call themselves survivalists. As the Duke's of Hazard song said, they're just "makin' their way, the only way they know how." _________________ "I was born in a deep forest

If I've got a roentgen meter, does that count? And I gave my husband a kill-a-watt meter and swedish firestarter for christmas, too. And as far as makeup goes, my daughter acccused me of neglect several years ago, because I never taught her how to put on makeup. _________________ "For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst and provide for it." --Patrick Henry

It's a Carlin special . Actually, my husband made it for me. Since we have goats, not cows, cream is pretty hard to come by - and we usually don't have a LOT at once. (It separates more slowly than cows' milk). So, building on the idea of making your own butter by rolling a mason jar around, he built me a contraption to hold the mason jar with a hand crank. Instead of shaking it, I just crank it, and it works like a charm. A quart jar of cream will make about a pound +/- of butter.

"Tremors". And an excellent movie it was; one of my favorites.
Burt Gummer (played by Michael Gross) was definitely a survivalist. So was his wife, Heather Gummer (played by Reba McEntire). _________________ “Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.” (Ted Perry)

Well, we have to be very careful when using the term 'girls' nowadays.
On my last forum I was on one lady chewed me out...

V:
It seems using the word girls is like the 'N word' in many cases. It is OK for women of any age to call themselves girls, but if men do it they may take some heat.
BTW, that forum on 'Simple Living' deleted my 'What ever happened to all the natural girls' thread and eventually banned me.
Here is the same post from another forum that was more open to discussion.

As for me, besides learning 4- season gardening, I'm hoarding salt! It's cheap and will be a good barter item, plus even the folks who do prepare don't usually think of salt.
I'm also learning to make moonshine... from whatever is available....
and to make herbal tinctures from it.
That's impressive with their skills, but it is good to be aware of current events as well. ...balanced approach.

I don't post on this forum very much about preparedness and self sufficiency as that is not what I value about this forum and it is not a particularly well developed discussion forum in that area - there are much better discussion forums out there for that topic. Instead, I find this forum incredibly useful in understanding and monitoring our liquid fuel supply situation.
