The post-peak oil, post-housing bust economy is already driving most crazy, and we won't even get to the food riot stage for maybe two more years.

...for having such a great son.
...that I got to see the northern lights on brilliant display in the UP of Michigan.
...that I got to live in a tropical paradise for a few years before it got "developed."
...that I was born into a family which values education for its own sake.
...that I found out about peak oil and eco-collapse at just the right time in my life to maximize my ability to prepare for it for myself and my family.
...for all the loves I have experienced and all the friends and wonderful teachers I've had.
...that I've been blessed with good health.
...that my husband has been patient with me during the excruciating growth process I've gone through over the past 2 years.
...that I've always been able to cope with feeling my feelings instead of denying them, so I didn't get "sad sickness" and turn into a junkie like so many people I've loved have done.
...that I have on occasion felt unified with divinity and briefly enlightened, enough to know what it means.
...that I've never had to endure poverty for very long.
...for the roller coaster ride that has been (and surely will continue to be) life in general. I have certainly lived it!

Ahhh, the UP. I lived in Sault Ste Marie for a couple of years back in the mid-90s...got to see one or two auroras myself, although nothing really spectacular. Lived right next to the locks on the St. Mary's River too. Every once in a while I would just walk outside and watch these huge barges sitting there, waiting to be locked up or down so they could head to either Lake Superior or Lake Huron. I miss the Great Lakes. Heck, I even miss the snow. Razz

Anyway, very nice post, Shannymara...no matter what the future holds, there will always be something to be thankful for.

I'm greatful for a good many things...

But lately I'm greatful for enjoying the things that are still here (that maybe wont be here soon).

Like a good Ribeye Steak with hash browns & sauted mushrooms & finishing off the meal with some fine chocolate.

I'm grateful for everything.

I've been so lucky. I was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck...seriously...I should have died at birth! Instead, I'm part of a nice family with enough money and lots of happiness and a Dad that has always raised me to think critically. I get my funny side from my Mom and my social side from growing up with 3 other siblings. I have a dog, a cat, some fish and a BIG extended family to make Christmas all that much more enjoyable.

I've taken the right classes and read the right books. I've met the right people and lived in the right location. I've lived in the right time period and became "enlightened" at the perfect point in history. Couldn't be more grateful.

...for the wide view.

What a time to live. Myths and legends will be born . . . I hope.

Hi Shanny,

Yea, and also use that positive energy that's around you right now (smile) to get that damn house finished! Then you will be 'sorted' as we say over here...

Shanny, I don't know what prompted you to write that, but well done.
