No, they will be rusting. Converting tankers to carry anything else is prohibitively expensive. I have heard it done with smaller product tankers that ply inland waterways, but ocean-going crude carriers, no way. Always cheaper to build new. | I thought obsolete tankers often end up getting used as stationary storage tanks, like what they did when single hulled ships were getting phased out and replaced with double hulled ships? _________________ The oil barrel is half-full. |
