For a minute there I thought I had to get off my couch, when all the while the fact is we don't have to do anything much but keep things afloat for just a few decades more! In fact, we'd best shut up about PO, because if our offspring finds out we knew about it all along, they'll turn and wring our necks come 2036!

The "some places are colder than normal" argument against AGW is very tiresome and deflects from the real issue. Places are colder than normal while at the same time others are warmer than normal. Its the nature of how meterological patterns work (i.e. ridges and troughs). one cold snap tells nothing. only average temperatures over decades can give an accurate representation. even then it you only look at one region it doesnt give the full picture.
Temperature can be influences by regional cycles not directly related to GW, such as El-Nino/Southern Osscilation (ENSO)and Atlantic Multidecadal Osscilation (AMO), etc. How GW may cause changes in these cycles is still an open question.
Couple other things about the recent temperatute record. Whenever land+ocean is considered, the ENSO will always be a factor in the final number. So will the solar cycle (but to a lesser extent). Thats where the argument that no warming has occured since 1998 doesnt hold water. they are ignoring the presence of a major factor not directly connected to GW. Had we had a strong el-nino, 2007 would easily be warmest. Also the fact that the temperature doesnt rise every single year is a poor argument. if it were we would be in serious trouble. given the amount of warming that would need to be added to counteract potential short term negatives as mentioned above.

Twenty years ago the earliest global warming climate models predicted that weather patterns would be disrupted throughout the year, and that we could expect to see more-severe winters in some cases.
Overall warming, droughts, hotter summers, occasionally colder and/or wetter winters: This is very old news.

You might want to rephrase that, ALBY. I know you meant to say that you kill the deer and feed them to your family, but the way it's written, it could be interpreted that you and the deer are out together on a fratricidal killing frenzy. _________________ “Humankind has not woven the web of life. Oh no here we go again. Produce the area-weighted integral of the temperature in the northern hemisphere outside the tropics and then get back to us with the GW is a hoax drivel, vampyregirl. You are freezing in Alberta while we are having +7 Celsius spells in Toronto. The last two weeks have definitely been warmer than normal in southern Ontario. Next.
It's about the cherry trees in Kyoto where records have been kept about the exact date of the flowering since a bloody long time.
And everyone knows, Cherry tree NEVER LIES.
=================================
In the 1990s, the agricultural meteorologist Dr. Yasuyuki Aono of the Osaka Prefecture University, along with his colleague Yukio Omoto, began to search all available court records and diaries, with the goal of having a complete set of cherry blossom festival dates for Kyoto.
These documents were stored in libraries, archives, and museums, primarily in Kyoto, Nara, and other historical centers of Japan. The documents were hand written in ancient Japanese script on paper and parchment.
Over many years, Dr. Aono taught himself to read these documents, and he gradually converted them to modern Japanese characters. In addition, the dates on the documents corresponded to the Japanese calendar and had to be converted to the Western calendar.
His lifetime goal of analyzing ancient and modern climate data has filled his modest office with boxes of photocopies of court records, old books, and computers.
During fifteen years of dedicated searching, Dr. Aono was able to greatly increase the number of years for which there were dates of the Kyoto cherry blossom festivals, with many additional dates going back to the 11th century.
From 1401 to the present time, a 605 year time span, there are now records of the festivals for most years. For the period 1476 to 1553, there is a record for every single year.
The cumulative flowering record shows a six week range in flowering dates from as early as late March to as late as early May. The extreme flowering dates are scattered throughout this time period.
There are, however, periods of decades with earlier than average flowering and decades with later than average flowering. Many of the flowering records from the 12th and 13th centuries are noticeably earlier than average, along with the decades before and after 1600.
In contrast, the period from the mid-1600s to the early 1800s is characterized by later than average flowering. After approximately 1830, the flowering times become progressively earlier. By the 1980s and early 1990s, average flowering
times had become earlier than at any time previously during the entire flowering record of over one thousand years.

Of course Global warming is an hoax! Look :
Last summer, it was incredibly cold in France, -20°Celcius only from june to september in my fridge.
So when i hear this soviet scam, i want to buy a SUV and pollute as much as i can!
CO2? CO2 is good, trees eat CO2!
Pollution? Ipods, airplanes, roads or suburbia are made from nature... So pollution is a natural thing.

Merde!
I unclog my nose in your direction, sons of a window dresser. So, you think you could outclever us french folks with your silly, knees-bent, running-about, advancing behaviour? I wave my private parts at your aunties, you cheesy-leather, second-hand, electric donkey bottom biters. _________________ All that we are is the result of what we have thought. Alby, thats' how you can tell the difference. Anyone claiming that CC can be solved by only focusing on developed countries is a fraud and has other motives. _________________ "One minute I held the key, next the walls were closed on me, and I discovered that my castle stands upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand."

what the AGW geeks don't get is that it is so NOT about the science. they get lost in the details of carbon belching and lose sight of the big picture. and the proposed solutions are a classic case where the cure is worse than the disease. implementing kyoto wouldn't do jack chit to slow 'climate change', would likely make a bunch of carbon traders rich and we'll end up poor and living in a changed climate.
whether it's the sun or cow farts, there is no human answer to climate change. either it's out of our hands (the sun) or we can't stop ourselves. imo, asking people to reduce their 'carbon footprint' is like asking yeast to stop reproducing.
