I broke down.
I am probly the first person in the history of the world to convert from a pure electric vehicle to a gas powered one. I couldn't wait for li-ion any more, after ten years I put down my electric MC, and bought a suzuki DRZ400. Screw it, nobody wants any change, so Ive gone burn it while you got it.
The other nice thing is my new bike is realy loud, so it is good for scaring little old laidies that try to cut me off in traffic.
The bottom end on the zuke blows, the ev pulled way harder.

A wicked product, unless you run lead-acid, then the range is increadably short.
The new bikes he is making are cool, but I do not want to spend the money, been there done that. The DR was under $3k.
I will miss mobbing accross town on the little blade. The hooliganism you can fully get away with on a silent bike is wicked.
On a gas bike, it feels like everybody is waiting for ya to do something bad.

Hey, a DRZ400 must do good on gasoline...could be worse...you could be forced to take a bus or something. You can park a motorcycle ANYWHERE. _________________ Freddy RULZ!

It is the 'e' with an aftermarket kit for the turn signals.
The street version ends up with turn signals so wide you just rip them off the first time you go off road. Electric start is maditory riding on the street, stalling a cold bike at the stoplight becomes a nightmare if you gotta kick it.
I do like the bike, gets fair mileage, if ya short shift and get it into 4th as quick as you can. I have a very short commute, 4mi+.
Rode bicycles for years, sinned and went to motors, fell even farther now and succumbed to the ol' infernal combustion.
The throttle responce and bottom end of a humble electric make even a big 4-stroke look pathetic. I almost wish I was still working on that stuff, on the otherhand the starving part of the job I can do without.
That little blade has about 18hp@ 175lbs. The DRZ is 35hp @ 290lbs(wet). IE the power to weight is almost the same.
The DR makes 40ft/lbs at the shaft, so does the EV.
I have, for a long time now, had the dream of getting a bike into a 'lightweights' class MX race. Not me riding! Someone young and without fear. The tech is damn near there, it is a capital problem.
I always root for the underdog...
