Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

As part of my little side-biz, we are offering free gardening/permaculture classes within the NYC metro area. We are teaching people to grow food in very small spaces. And we are basically giving instructions on how to do it in the most cost effective manner(reuse, recycle everything before buying new supplies).
Due to the high prices of food, energy, and rent right now, I think a lot of people in the city is becoming keenly aware of the pinch. Over the last several lessons, we have seen a huge increase in the number of people showing up. As of the last class, around 40 people have attended, and over 100 more has expressed interest in attending the next one. At this rate, I'm thinking of renting out a new lecture hall to handle more folks.
