Thanks again, everyone. We got lucky - last night we found a brand new listing for a rural place close to my job that was perfect in many ways (we can have our livestock - and it has a wood stove!), yet had low rent. We got the keys this afternoon. The owner volunteered to work with us to let us out of the lease if we ever had anything come up, so it's a great situation. We can be settled and together almost immediately, keep working on a purchase if we choose, and still have the TX place as a safety net. All your input, reassurance, and reminders to slow down were a big help and much appreciated! _________________ "Every junkie's like a setting sun..." - Neil Young |

That's great, Shanny! Why rent an apartment when you can rent a small farm! One of the advantages of Oklahoma, I'd guess . . .
Perfect outcome. _________________ "Actually, humans died out long ago."

Aww, thanks.
BTW, you have a good memory. And I have a big old claw foot tub in which I take hot baths almost every night, while I can. _________________ "Every junkie's like a setting sun..." - Neil Young |

And you got this in writing, right?
Otherwise, I'd counsel you not to count on this when the time comes.
Ideally you'd have a lease breakage clause - pay a fee, get out of lease early. |

I've always said better to be lucky than good!
But consider having the Landlord sign an addendum to your lease stipulating it it really isn't a lease, just month to month rent - otherwise the contract you sign is the contract.
Seahorse would be much better able to give you free advice here.
Anyway, Congratulations!
PM us and we might be able to drop by at some point and drink your (root)beer. _________________ Make a plan and work it: |
