The article makes some very good points, plastic cans won't last for
anything and sealed metal cans or flasks are the way to go for
storage, but I'm still not sure the new gas can last 10 years. I'll say
maybe it can in well sealed metal containers and with stabilizer.

Wow, that's a lot of information and ideas. Thanks. I like the wood gasification, I will have to check into that. Electric chainsaws are not powerful enough for a real job.
BTW I watched the movie of this guy with the electric tractor/golf cart/chainsaw and all. How does that work? One of those panels is 700W max output, on the tractor he has 4 of them. That will yield less than 4hp. Probably only going to work when riding downhill and at 2 miles/h.

Yes, I would and did put multi-year old storage gas in my BMW and it worked fine without current or future problems - But I did store this multi-year old gasoline correctly in a all metal 5 gallon Jerry cans with fully tight cap and fuel preservative. I would not have used it if it showed signs of loss in volume or visible degradation. I now use 55 gallon steel drums along with 5 gallon Jerry cans.

If you had done what I suggested and put your $2500 in FSENX at the time I suggested, the end of March 2007, you would have made $454, despite all of the market gyrations that happened since last July.
This would have paid for an additional 135 gallons of gas at the current price, or would have compensated for the price going up from $2.65 to $3.35 on 650 gallons of gas or so.
So the strategy more than worked for the average motorist who bought about 500 gallons of gas last year.
Now in the interest of full disclosure, if you had done it when I actually did it, which is about Halloween last year, you would have been a little worse than even, but I am patient and am sticking with it.

Just a recent observation...
20 gallons of gasoline + stabilizer, sitting in dark, hot, dreary shed, in grungy plastic fuel containers. 2 years pass by... Storm comes, lights go off, generator goes on, lights go on, computers go beep beep.
I type message on internet.
Generator ate it all up without complaint, I pulled the spark afterwards, and it showed no unpleasant signs of bad gas.
Not that anyone's paying attention to PO at the moment, considering how incredibly cheap oil has become (at $91/bbl) HAHA! _________________ Yes, we are. As we are.

I'm planning to store about 30 gallons. Long term storage isn't a concern as I'll be rotating it through my car's gas tank. Mixing 5 gallons of 2 month old fuel every other week into an otherwise full tank of fresh fuel shouldn't cause any problems I'm thinking.
