Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Yeah, that's the great thing, we've now brought the doctrine of strict liability into the criminal law. So much for 1000 years of common law...

That's too bad. It does pay to buy a quality rifle, I'm not surprised that this is an Olympic Arms rifle and not a Colt.

On another note, if you buy a surplus SKS and take it to the range without cleaning the cosmoline out of the action, it can go full auto on you. You just have to be careful.

There's a 48 page thread about the case at ARF com. link

Bladerunner2347 is the defendant.

Part 2 of the CNN series is here: link

This case is an aberration. The President needs to pardon this man immediately!

When I first heard this story, It was my understanding that the firearm was broken and therefore fired full auto. If that is true, then this case is a travesty. If the gun was modified, then that is something else. What is the up with the three position selector?

The three position selector is some sort of BS that the BATFE made up with initially to justify their search. Seems to be a relatively common thing that feds outright lie to get warrants. IMHO federal agents show about as much honesty as the politicians that hire them. The defect they prosecuted him for was a "hammer follow" which has nothing to do with what they alleged in the initial warrant. The hammer follow was apparently the result of a worn sear mechanism, though ATF hasn't allowed any sort of third party examination of the weapon. It's just sort of a "take our word for it. It's a machinegun" kind of thing.

BTW if you think this sort of thing is an aberation for ATF, you are woefully uninformed on US history for the last 20 years. This sort of trumped up idiocy is the bread and butter for the ATF.

Perhaps you've heard of some of their more famous exploits:

Ruby Ridge, Id - and undercover ATF agent entices white separatist Randy Weaver, to shorten a a shotgun barrel below the legal limit. When Weaver refuses to become an informant for them, they surround his house and shoot his elementary school age son. ATF snipers then assassinate his unarmed wife, shooting her in the head while she holds their infant child. Weaver is eventually arrested, tried, and found not guilty on the charge by reason of entrapment.

Waco, Texas - ATF agents begin an investigation on religious seperatist David Koresh. Koresh offers to meet the agents and to have them out to inspect his weapons. Instead, ATF agents storm the place and open fire killing several of Koreshs supporters. The supporters then return fire and hold the ATF off. Eventually the ATF calls for a cease fire and Koresh's supporters allow them to retreat in safety. The FBI surrounds the place and spends several weeks trying to provoke another shooting match. Eventually the FBI gets tired of waiting, lights Koresh's house on fire, and shoots at anyone who tries to exit. Several dozen people including a number of children die in the blaze.

What gauge shotgun would you recommend for a lightly-built man with a bad arm?

Game will be squirrels and small deer, in general.

Others may be able to be more specific but I would think a 20 gauge. I would talk to a local gunsmith, gun shop, about a model that would have the least amount of kick. Lots of variety of ammunition available (slugs for dear to small game loads for rabbits/squirrels). Ammunition is relatively cheap as I recall and universal.

there is only one gauge of shotgun. the 12 gauge. the ammo is universal. there is 12 gauge ammo nearly everywhere. you'll always be abloe to get it. even if tshtf.

need a light kicking gun, shoot handicap trap loads. needs to whomp some geese ? 3.5 in magnum.

20 gauge is for small women and kids.

12 gauge. Try borrowing a 12g or 20g and bringing down a small deer, and you'd find that the 12g would do much better in terms of stopping power and range

Squirrel and small deer?

.22LR for squirrel and .223 or .243 for deer. Either the .223 or .243 will make quick work of deer better then a shotgun would IMO.

I've never been a fan of taking deer with shotguns. You could even use the .22LR for deer, that little trick has been done for decades. Put one in the head and they'll go down right quick.

One of the craziest vital shots I have ever seen was my brother shooting a mule deer with a .223 full-metal jacket. I would not advise anyone to shoot game with a full-metal jacket unless you absolutely have to for survival purposes.

He shot the deer in the correct spot (behind the shoulder) but obviously instead of the bullet mushrooming since it was FMJ or exiting the other side which we anticipated....it actually bounced around in the rib cage. We found 2 seperate holes in the heart and 4 lung punctures. It was pretty amazing and extremely lucky.
