Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Good luck SPG, it sounds like a plan... I hope it works out for you... _________________ “It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.”

Whoa, SPG. I thought you were in Missoula and making good bucks. Did I miss something? _________________ "Modern Agriculture is the use of land to convert petroleum into food."

Apparently.
I'm in Kalispell, and the practice here has lost money every month since I've had it. For about a year and a half I've been flying out to Seattle every week to work and keep the Kalispell office going. _________________ "We were standing on the edges

Sorry to hear that it's not working out. My wife's small town practice also was losing money. It was a drain on our resources and we decided to close it. Fortunately she got a contract with the state and practices both adult and child psychiatry in four different offices. At least we've been able to keep the farm.
The Puget Sound is beautiful but unfortunately too crowded and way too wet. Best of luck to you. I hope you find a position that helps you meet your goals/desires. _________________ "Modern Agriculture is the use of land to convert petroleum into food."

That's cool, so the place in Idaho is working out well?

Crowded...yeah. For sure. Wetness...I hate it, but like I said the plants really like it. Seems to me a much easier place to grow your own food than here. Here you'd really have to have access to a good source of irrigation water in order to make it work. Out there, things like rainwater collection would be far easier.

Yes, very well. We're well on our way to feeding ourselves from the land. The orchard should start producing this year and the first stage of the vineyard is in. We've really lucked out with this area; lots of sun, high heat index and long growing season with abundant water. About all we have to worry about is the once in a hundred year flood.
There's still so much to do but I'm retired now and my time is completely dedicated to the farm. Also the two oldest sons are now taking PO seriously and are talking about moving to the farm within the next few years. This will give us a much needed boost to our meager labor force and bring in some more income. _________________ "Modern Agriculture is the use of land to convert petroleum into food."

Undersea quake swarm puzzles the experts
Hundreds of tremors emanate from unusual source off Oregon coast By Jeff Barnard updated Sun., April. 13, 2008
GRANTS PASS, Ore. - Scientists listening to underwater microphones have detected an unusual swarm of earthquakes off central Oregon, something that often happens before a volcanic eruption — except there are no volcanoes in the area.
Scientists don't know exactly what the earthquakes mean, but they could be the result of molten rock rumbling away from the recognized earthquake faults off Oregon, said Robert Dziak, a geophysicist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Oregon State University.
There have been more than 600 quakes over the past 10 days in a basin 150 miles (240 kilometers) southwest of Newport, Ore. The biggest was magnitude 5.4, and two others were more than magnitude 5.0, Oregon State University reported. …

They told me about changes I had to make to my home to prepare for my older children coming to stay with us. It had to be done before the end of 2005 since after this year, it would not be possible to do this again for a long time.
I started to prepare in 2005... I guess I am lucky... or the author was... misled? _________________ “It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.”
