Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

You guys just had to go and turn my housing thread into a cannibalism discussion, didn't you?
I'm still going to enjoy my hot baths. I can read Lovecraftian fiction about feasting on human flesh while I'm in there, and still enjoy it. I'm like Ash in BigTex's avatar. You cannot stop me. As my brother would say, "Give up while your hope is small."
Right now I am just trying to calculate how to distribute my preps (seriously). But for security reasons I suppose I won't get into details on that here. I might have a couple of years ago, but now I think things are getting more serious. Maybe we should take the rest of this conversation into the Doomers Only forum? _________________ The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done." - George Carlin

I think talk of doom belongs everywhere, since that is how it will express itself. _________________ "Actually, humans died out long ago."

Not a bad idea, especially if you want to hear more about cannibalism!
Seriously though, I wouldn't suggest posting much about preps.
Roccman has a different opinion, but his situation may be different
being rooted in a community and all. But if you are going to seek
input regarding preps, I think a closed forum is a better idea.

But you know, I don't think it's either/or.
You can talk generally about this or that, what works and what doesn't without describing anything you have actually done.
You might even have a "neighbor" with really impressive preps. _________________ Our window of opportunity is slowly closing...at the same time, it probably requires a spiral of adversity. In other words, things have to get worse before they can get better.

Sure, I'm just saying if she feels some reservations, why not just go
with a more private forum. There's already enough information on the
"Preparing for the Future" threads and the internet doesn't need to
know what kind of gun she sleeps with under her pillow or whatever.
The only problem with asking the "Doomers Only" club is that she'll get
doomer responses!

What's this about a "Doomers Only" club/forum?

If you're uber-doomer enough and it takes a day or so for approvals to
go though. The Doomer usergroup helps keep our cannibalism rituals
off the main page.
