Yup, mine is a 62A with the bigger fore stock/slide but not checkered like in your poster.
I think I do have a Barlow like that one though...

This can go a lot of ways. Exactly what kind of tool are we talking about? My tool has worked perfectly for many years.

That's good to hear. A good tool is like an extension of the user, even like an appendage in some cases. It sounds like yours is the kind of tool that would provide good service if times got hard.
You know the old saying:
Get it up
Wear it out
Make it do
And try not to do without

Hey, vision-master, you sure that .22 isn't a model 90? I've got a model 90 pump take-down that looks like that, made in 1917. Aww, nevermind, I realize they look alike...

OLD TOOLS!

1. I have one of those Tennessee Toothpick Schrade Oldtimer hunting knives that is about 35 years old. Still looks and cuts great.
2. I am very impressed with Honda lawnmowers. I believe one of the newer Honda lawnmowers especially could easily go 20 years. At the end of 20 years, I'm not sure what would keep it from going longer still. My Honda lawnmower (the one Blistered Whippet would like to use as a murder weapon) is about 9 years old, and in near perfect condition.
3. I have a Toro commercial trimmer with a Mitsubishi engine from back in my landscaping days that I use on my yard and it is 17 years old. Pretty impressive. I also have a blower with that same engine in it that is also about 17 years old.
4. I have an Acme Juicerator that I bought used about 15 years ago. It has one of those clutchless 5 hp electric motors that will juice anything and could also be used as a chipper/shredder in a bind. It's probably 30 years old.
5. I have been buying used Saladmaster stainless steel cookware off of Ebay one piece at a time for a while. That stuff is really nice. Most of the pieces I have are probably 30 years old or so. My wife thought I was crazy buying used pans one at a time off the internet, but once she got them and started using them she REALLY likes them.

Man, anything stainless I think is a great value today.
I have no idea how it is made but I gotta think anything stainless will not be replaceable at the end of its useful life.
