Then there is also the possibility that the global house of cards will come down, bringing everybody down with it. Then people will see the writing on the wall: We can't buy what we need to keep from starving, so we either grab it if we can't barter for it, or die. I'm pretty sure people here in the US will say, 'Hey, crank up that multi trillion dollar military machine, impose the draft! Get it done! And one of the first moves might be the US' own little version of the Anschluss with our neighbors to the north being the annexed territory. 1)the world economy totally collapses
2)there's no gas

well yes and no. I really do believe that the sentiment to fight for survival will be intense and a majority of Americans, probably a large majority of Americans, will demand that we do. What does that matter? In a democracy, the people have no choice in any matter whatsoever, that is the beauty of calling it that, it sounds so peoplish.....and you can rape the system without recours.
