On the flipside, Israel is so small and intertwined with the Palestinians that any nuking there would surely kill the Palestinians in the process, not to mention flattening the Temple Mount that they say is so holy to Islam. |

The nuking would be surgical attacks on certain installations.
i.e. using nuked bunker busters.
No way they could go and nuke whole cities.

If Israel could really destroy any country in the region it would have long done so and without any warning. Probably by now would have started building settlements and soliciting UN to issue resolutions against the occupied people.
Its going to be very interesting to see how it'd all unfold. |

Iran never could or would nuke Israel even if they had the bomb. Aside from risking getting destroyed by Israel's superior nukes, it would be blamed for nuking an Arab/Islamic land, something that Iran cannot afford in term of a social response from the Islamic world. Lets remember that Iran like majority of the Muslim world consider Israel as occupied Palestine- an Arab and a Muslim land. |

The world is filled with countries that would love to wipe out eachother if they could get away with it. This is why we HAVE militaries. Some people have a really naive idea about international relations to think that all nations can just get along without the usual dose of saber rattling, symbolic military maneuvers, close-calls, and skirmishes. |

You are awfully new here to start throwing around accusations like that.
Fiirst of all, the American/Israeli propaganda suggests that Iran threatened to wipe Israel off the map (i.e. nuclear attack).
What I am saying was that the president suggested Israel should cease to exist as a nation in a similar way to say Sovjet Union. (i.e. the map was altered, regime changed. )
There are however a couple of different alternative translation avaialble and as my Farsi is very limited, I can't tell which one is the most precise.
It should however be bleedigly clear that my post was nearer to the correct translation than to "American propaganda".

US confession: Weapons were not made in Iran after all
In a sharp reversal of its longstanding accusations against Iran arming militants in Iraq , the US military has made an unprecedented albeit quiet confession: the weapons they had recently found in Iraq were not made in Iran at all.
According to a report by the LA Times correspondent Tina Susman in Baghdad: "A plan to show some alleged Iranian-supplied explosives to journalists last week in Karbala and then destroy them was cancelled after the United States realized none of them was from Iran. A U.S. military spokesman attributed the confusion to a misunderstanding that emerged after an Iraqi Army general in Karbala erroneously reported the items were of Iranian origin. When U.S. explosives experts went to investigate, they discovered they were not Iranian after all."
The US, which until two weeks ago had never provided any proof for its allegations, finally handed over its "evidence" of the Iranian origin of these weapons to the Iraqi government. Last week, an Iraqi delegation to Iran presented the US "evidence" to Iranian officials. According to Al-Abadi, a parliament member from the ruling United Iraqi Alliance who was on the delegation, the Iranian officials totally refuted "training, financing and arming" militant groups in Iraq . Consequently the Iraqi government announced that there is no hard evidence against Iran.

Iran didn't suggest that; _a_ guy in Iran suggested that... and he didn't even suggest that. He suggested that the current regime in Israel be removed from the map of history, and he said it in the context of the oppression of the people in Gaza and the West Bank. Criticizing the Israeli government becomes an excuse for vapourizing millions of human beings in Iran so easily with some folks, doesn't it? |
