Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Because of this little monster, Africa will never become a region of high food production. Human population, and our ancestors have had a relatively sparse populations there for the best part of 3 million years. This devil is not going away anytime in the near future.

It's too bad there aren't tsetse flies on every continent. There wouldn't be as many people as there are now, and the die-off wouldn't have to be as severe as it looks as though it's going to be!

[quote ="GASMON"]There wil be riots in Britain soon, but for a different reason.

The supermarket giant TESCO (big in UK, Thailand, coming to USA soon) has just posted after tax profits of £2.8 BILLION.

Food costs at Tesco, (and the other UK big names - Wallmart (Asda) also) are up 20%+ in one year.

Only 2 words to say, ROBBING BASTARDS.

And I suppose the SOCIALIST SHITS think these businesses exist for the sole purpose of pleasing all your needs free of charge??

No, The SOCIALIST SHITS in the UK sit on there arses all day, cash there social security cheques & spend them at Tesco etc.

The HARD WORKING CAPITALIST BASTARDS (ME !!!) also spend there wages at these places.

MY POINT is that currently, prices are rising out of all proportion to actual costs, AND PROFITS ARE RISING EVEN FASTER. For the basic human commodity, food, such blatent profiteering for is now bordering on immoral.

Not time, place here to rant, but these UK supermarkets get up to all kinds of other mean tricks. These places have us by the balls (no alternatives), and the're squeezing.

Yes, started to look at/for alternatives, though not easy.

You are exactly correct.

Don't think for an instant that I am doing what I can to adjust the moral calculus of others. That, by writing clearly and explicitly those concepts previously deemed unthinkable I am creating a counter-story which encourages similar views by others. Once a single voice opens the lock of forbidden ideas, others may follow. Would I engage in such actions? Surely not.

Might a single pebble start an avalanche, one which will permit the affluent nations to pursue their self-interest aggressively, without the limitations of deluded ideas of morality?

None of that applies, of course. I am a simple attention whore.

Y'all have a nice day, now, ya hear?

Honestly, do we really have any other choise but to learn and learn to remember? Not only in our computer memory chips and synaptic conditionings, but also in the memory muscles of our hearts?

When dealing with the "short term consequences" these kinds of thoughts are probably not much for solace. But maybe just a little bit.

I, for one, think you have pretty much nailed it.

For me this makes it all very personal, me and mine, and if I have some left over then others. I also recognize that I need community to help "me and mine." So I'm not a backwoods hermit. I hope my genes are successful in the race for life. I will never know.

Lately, there has being a growth in flames in some forums @peakoil.com... my guess is that some of our doom predictions are starting to happen, and there's anxiety in some posters.

If that is so, then buy their stock. Participate in the profits, thus offsetting your increased costs.

As for food, go long on futures contracts, or buy DBA.

Someone has to offset all this kumbaya-singing, shared sacrifice advocating, sustainable living .... ahem .... material.

It's my way of helping. Cool

I noticed that too. It's like an epidemic of unkindness for crying out loud. Those who cuss and flame need to ... you know.

There is the so called butter fly effect, a friendly word here or act of understanding there - real or just pretention, you decide - could and can start an chaos theoretical avalanche of unpredicted consequenses. So there is no escaping responsibility, the only real one, which is so very fuzzy and unpredictable. The nice part of this philosophy, if there is one, is that it makes judgementalism much more difficult, which is not allways nice, because I too love to hate.

And as for moral calculus, Fark it. Calculus is not aesthetic, only chaotic unpredictability is. If you see a man acting mechanically, don't you too want to to push those mechanical buttons enough times so that the man stops to be a machice and acts creatively, does something unexpected? "Tough love" they call it...

Actually, no. I like machines far better than I like most humans.

Being kind is actually an act of bravery. You are not "cool", but encrusted in the ice of past rejections. For some reason, you can't give warmth, and others will mirror that back to you. But that is what you need to thaw you out, to become human again. What on god's earth happened to you? How did you become this way? It's sad.
