| So what's up with the price of gold then. It usually trends up with oil and it's been falling. This is where technical analysts fall down. They do all of their predicting based on past patterns. Looks like money is rushing into oil, almost as if it's the alternative currency right now. Sheesh. I give up. |

There is no doubt it is going to happen again, and probably sooner rather than later. But people think just because we haven't had a major one in 2 years, everything is ok. There have been many major ones the past two years, they just didn't make it to the US. It's harder than a person thinks. The conditions have to be perfect. Katrina was like bowling a strike the way it split Florida and Cuba. |

I hear ya. Just like Miami. Seems such an easy target for a hurricane, but its been a long time since a hard hit (even Andrew missed to the south a little).
Read some article on Marketwatch earlier. Author seemed to understand the situation pretty well and sees $150 oil by fall.

Read another article on msnbc about the Chinese love of SUV's and large cars. Sales are way up (still small compared to US of A). GM is going to bring the Escalade to their market next year. _________________ Clothing should be optional. |

$118.05 in overnight trading.
Funny... The other day when the price broke $117 per barrel the media spin went to speculation and a Japanese tanker mishap. My point is, they always have an excuse and sometimes they do indeed hit the mark.
But today, there seems to be no spin with which to accompany the new record of $118.05. No tanker collisions. No pipeline sabotage. No speculation. They're just announcing the new national gas average of $3.51 and the oil price without any spin as to why it still continues to go up.
So, seems the prices spike when there is an actual reason and it seem it spikes when there isn't. |

Yesterday, CNBS was showing several analyst "adjustments" moving upwards including one who had predicted oil would be $80. He raised his bottom to $100. And more than one had adjusted from ~$100 to $125 this year.
Personally, and considering the exponentially compounding effects of PO none of us expected, I'm sticking with my earlier prediction of ~$200 (anything above $180 bbl) by the end of this year - especially if there is a hurrican strike on infrastructure. |

Just jumped on an uphill rail. Heads up! Where's it going? Currently in striking distance of yesterday's close.

I didn't see it at $118.40 but if it did, then my last two posts are null and void. |
