Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

CHINA only has enough coal for 12 days of consumption, three days less than a month ago, state media reported Wednesday, sounding the alarm bells over the nation's most important source of energy.

The winter they had would have cut production and sucked up stocks like hell. However as they grow faster and faster there is less and less slack in the system to rebuild reserves.

Gives new insight into the recent news story that China was shutting down the coal plants for a few days due to the smog, doesn't it?

Sounds like they need an SCR-Strategic Coal Reserve

People bash Bush on filling the SPR but I think it is a good thing. China will regret not having an abundance of coal stored. Now they must switch to oil for fuel. OUCH!!!

The Chinese government has been trying for some time to break the countries dependence on coal burning. It is causing major pollution problems and with it serious health problems. For instance respiratory ailments have become a common health problem in cities such as Shanghai. That plus the fact that there coal reserves are depleting.
Increasing natural gas use and alternative energy use has become a priority.
PetroChina has signed contracts to buy more than 3 million tonnes per annum of LNG from Quatargas4 and one million per annum from the Australian operation. The Qatar plant is under construction, to be completed next year. In Australia the Northwest Shelf Venture is still under development. PetroChina is a major buyer of LNG from the Nigerian operations.
Shell Solar has under contract installed solar panels in remote Chinese villages to electrify them off grid and alos supplied rooftop panels in urban areas. The new CIS solar panels being developed in Germany are slated for the Chinese market as they can better compete with retail electricity than silicon panels. New wind farms are also under development in China.
China is taking steps in the right direction and we are doing our best to supply them but it is turning into a race against time.

If i went into details on Group activities in China this would be a really long post

The sooner they run out of coal the better the air quality will be in major cities in China. This is good news.

The sooner they run out of coal the sooner the Chinese economy collapses and affects the rest of the world in a big way.

Don't expect cheap Chinese products at your local store in the future.

Thor, that it would be so easy. The quicker they run out of coal means they burn other things. The quicker they switch to other things the better.

The sooner they run out of coal or use slows down the sooner global warming becomes much more visible...

The great coal hole

"He concludes that the industry has already produced most of the
easily mined coal and “from now on it’s going to be a significant
challenge”. In China, for example, much of the remaining coal is
more than 1000 metres below the surface, Chapman says, while in
South Africa the geology is extremely complex. Elsewhere, flooding
and subsidence may have “sterilised” significant reserves: the coal
is there, but will almost certainly never be mined. As a result,
Chapman agrees that true reserves are probably much lower than
the official figure."

An analysis of the "The great coal hole" article, were we generally
come to the conclusion that China and the US will be able to
increase their coal production significantly.

Unfortunately any attempt to replace their fossil fuel use with wind and solar will only make a small dent in there increasing energy needs. Right idea, but they simply have a runaway train that has already left the station as far as energy demand goes. At some point, probably in the very near future their rapid growth will screech to a halt as the resources they require are simply not availabe in the quantities they need. Oil and coal are the inital biggies are far as that goes.

They need to get the hell moving on pebble bed nukes. I first read about them spearheading this at least 4-5 years ago.

They need to get their god damn bikes back out and head back to the countryside where they came from to farm and eat bugs.
