I keep getting calls from my Subaru dealer trying to get me to trade in and buy another car. I got sick of his calls so told him don't call me back until Subaru makes a plug in hybrid that gets at least 100mpg.
Other than lawnmowers and chainsaws, I'm through with gas fired engines.
What about you? |

Probably not. My husband will just restore the ones we have. _________________ No original ideas are contained in this post. |

The wife wants a Prius, I want to wait until either an EV or PHEV is available from any major manufacturer.
If the Volt is really going to cost $40G's though, thats a bit steep, I might just get the Next Gen Prius, even if it isn't as "non gasoline" as I might like. _________________ Freddy RULZ!

I have mentioned this on another thread that it is tough to haul a 40ft cattle trailer up a steep rutted dirt road without a large truck or suv. And also hard to go into the backcountry where 4wd and high clearance is sometimes a necessity to enjoy camping or hunting.
So to answer your question:
Yes I will buy another gas powered vehicle and will probably buy another one after that one wears out.

I hope not. I don't drive much, and would happily go car-free except it's not safe to walk or bike (especially in the winter, or after dark) with all nuts driving like maniacs in their SUVs.
I bought a Toyota Corolla three years ago. I thought about a Prius, but decided I don't drive enough to make it worth the extra expense. Plus I plan to drive this car into the ground. The Prius is still too new for me to be confident of its long-term reliability. Corollas last forever, and it's easy to get parts because they've been so popular for so long.
I plan to drive this car until I retire, or the gas stations go dry, whichever comes first. _________________ "The problems of today will not be solved by the same thinking that produced the problems in the first place." - Albert Einstein |

Is it better to purchase a used gas powered vehicle and run it into the ground, or is it better to buy a new electric or hybrid? I'm betting the former, so yes, I will buy used gas vehicles as needed. Even if I need a V8 pickup or a V6 mini-van.
However, I do not ever see buying a liquid petroleum fueled vehicle unless it is a super efficient and low cost vehicle. _________________ When somebody makes a statement you don't understand, don't tell him he's crazy. Ask him what he means. -- Otto Harkaman, Space Viking |

Haha...I am sure that is based on fact and not on biased opinion.

I don't have a car at the moment, but i will need one when i get a job in the summer. Won't be spending much more than £500 on one though and it will only be for a year.
The first place I'm going to drive is to a rural beach to spend the day. Spend some time walking, reading, enjoying a pick nick of lovely pre packaged and processed food. Enjoy the oil age friends. |

Well, drivers in general are pretty bad around here...but SUV drivers are the worst. I remember one day when a sudden snowstorm arose. I must have driven past two dozen vehicles that had lost control on the slick roads and ended up crashed in the median. And they were all SUVs. People think just because they have four wheel drive they don't need to slow down. _________________ "The problems of today will not be solved by the same thinking that produced the problems in the first place." - Albert Einstein |

No, i won't be buying another gas powered car.
I hear, about once a month, from the local Ford dealership trying to get me to trade in and upgrade. Someone told me that they not only want to sell a new car, there is a boom in people wanting used cars. _________________ "RRrrruuuunnnn!!!" ~Apocalypto |

In 2000, with gas soaring to $1.60, thought my next car would be electric. Well 8 years later & electric still isn't available. _________________ People first, then things, then dollars.

Back in 2000, they were selling/leasing electric cars. But you had to live in California.

Funny how one needs a large truck to haul animals built to walk and find free fuel on the way.
(I just got the check from the sale barn so am not too optimistic about the current situation right now) _________________ Make a plan and work it: |

Not to be a jerk but that doesnt make any sense. Biggest obstacle is fence lines and private property of others. Clearly if there where no fences we could drive the calves to market even though it would take at least a few days. It takes 3+ hours in good weather to get to market by vehicle.
My family ranches because of tradition and for extra income and we have a couple hundred head of cattle. Its definitely not a hobby farm that so many people are starting these days. We own 300 acres and lease several sections (1 section equals 1 square mile) of national forest.
