Cabovers also do better in narrow streets because they have a shorter turning radius, which was seen as one of the big avantages early on. _________________ Oxygen: - An intensely habit-forming accumulative toxic substance. As little

Generally, no one over here wants to drive cab-overs. There is such a huge driver shortage that companies that spec them have a harder time getting drivers. Why don't we like them? The climb up to the cab is much greater. There is the perception that having an engine between you and whatever you are going to hit is a good thing. There is a perception of a less roomy work environment. Lastly, sitting so close to the glass the motoring public can see you scratch your nuts!

Maybe 7.5. More than 9? I don't think so. I just talked to the expert yesterday - trucking broker friend.
40 ton trucks used around 32 liters of diesel per 100 km some years ago. That's about 7.4 miles per gallon. Today the milage is significantly better, but I don't have any numers handy. 9 MPG doesn't sound totaly unresonable, that's close to 26 liters per 100 km. Drivers attend courses in economy driving, diesel fuel cost about $9 per gallon here, $7-8 for years.
60 ton trucks do about 38 liters per 100 km, say 6 MPG. At best though.
SCANIA and VOLVO touts hybrid tech for trucks, 30% fuel savings. People are very interested in that kind of savings, the trucks with that kind of tech will sell fast. I don't think the price of the truck will matter much. _________________ "We cut the earth until it bleeds, rain ashes from the sky

You're right. I think the cabover vs conventional is the main difference. But it seems that the US drivers are the only ones experiencing this problem. Not only Europe is driving cabovers, but also Russia and much of Asia. Perhaps they value their wallet over their ass.
maybe it's time to invest in one of these donut cushions?
Are cabovers really THAT uncomfortable---> is it like getting kicked in the ass by kangaroo?
