For a minute there I thought I had to get off my couch, when all the while the fact is we don't have to do anything much but keep things afloat for just a few decades more! In fact, we'd best shut up about PO, because if our offspring finds out we knew about it all along, they'll turn and wring our necks come 2036!

We finally broke the 4 dollar mark for Premium here in the Chicacgo burbs. Can't believe it. Went from 3.99 a few days ago to 4.11 for the first time ever. A psychological barrier has been broken.

Who buys premium ? I only pay attention to the cheap stuff. Once the cheap hits $4.00 here in middle America, people are going to.... Who am I kidding, people ain't going to do crap. They are too busy stuffing their fatasses with hoho's and watching American Idol.

I buy premium. High compression motors require it. Bought this car in 2002 and it's paid for. So buying premium doesn't really bother me. I live 5 miles from work.

Sorry, I am not an engine guy. Sports are my thing. I take my car to Firestone whenever I need anything done, including windshield wipers. Pretty sad I know. I just don't like working on things. I can build anything, just hate working on cars.

Thanks,

I just use www.nymex.com during trading hours in the USA, Asia and Europe it is active and shows RBOB, the wholesale price for reformulated gasoline for oxygenate blending. Where I live that means E-10 because almost the only fuel you can get here is 10% ethanol aka gasohol.

Thanks Tanada,

I like how it shows the price of RBOB right there at the homepage even after hours.

Driver's wait for 45 minutes to save 30 cents/gallon:

CNN Video

I don't know - either people are really strapped so that waiting that long to save $3-$5 makes sense, or people are just completely irrational when it comes to gas prices. I think it's both - I know people who would drive all across town to save 3 cents a gallon. And that was when gas was around $2.00.

Sort of off topic, but related to the last post.
Yesterday, in NEOhio, Papa John's pizza, after a derogetory comment about LeBron James, offered pizzas all day for 23 cents. I drove by one and people were in a line around the corner. On the news, it said that people waited 2-3 hours for that pizza.
Either a lot of unemployed with that much time, or some mighty hungry people. Neither good.

RBOB is up to $3.20. I am not positive but that $3.80+/national average I think.

Pump prices in a week or so are going to be downright pornographic. We'll see five-dollar premium all over San Francisco and L.A.

We've seen a large increase here from 1.20 cents/litre to 1.34 centres/litre (thats $5.07/gallon).

Everyone keeps complaining its the gov't taxes...and refusing to believe its anything else. With all the tar sands talk it can't be lack of oil...right!

petrol and diesel are fast approaching $10/gallon here (uk) it is pretty much business as usual.

I think if we hit $20/gallon people would start to seriously consider cutting back/driving less
