Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

The preview was atrocious. The movie was exceptional. I haven't read the novel.

This movie explores how humans react in a crisis situation. It is very relevant to social situations in a scenario like peak oil. It has a dim view of the future, but also offers some hope. Highly recommended.

It's an unfinished Steven King short story.

Don't read King's stories. Their' too slow and boring.
The Mist had some standard horror components that were pretty average and I think the mass psychosis went a bit overboard but the ending was 8/10. (I don't like the normal hollywood endings. Look how they butchered the body snatchers with Invasion.)
