Eh, you hear this news every few months or so. Carriers get dispatched to wave their mojo at Ahmadinejad. I don't put much stock in it, although the possibility is always there and we should have blown them to bits already instead of wasting lives, time and money in Iraq.

Honestly I'd rather see a couple of carrier groups dispatching to Myanmar to oversee the delivery of aid to storm victims and telling the junta boys to sit down and shut up, or risk being labeled a terrorist group.

I never trust news delivered by someone with a british accent. For some reason it makes it sound like Monty Python.

I never usually bother too much with these Iran threads myself.

But if Bush is going to strike he has to do it soon, he can't do it in October. The fact is though Israel definitely wants this done. They rightly fear a nuclear armed Iran. Obama gets into office and they know that he is not going to do anything about it.

Bush has been meeting with the Saudis recently and now with the Israelis.

All this is will still amount to nothing most likely but we will see.

It will happen before the elections.

There will be no elections.

For one to understand why this will happen one needs to only ask themselves what are the global effects of PO.

If one believes PO will bring global economies down ...which it will - then attacking Iran is a no brainer...

By attacking Iran - the global economies crash.

PO was going to usher this in any way...

May as well do it on ones own terms...oh ...and become the first dictator of the US.

Look back at all the draconian laws signed on Bush's watch...

Moving 6 aircraft carrier groups to just off Iran is worse than moving no carrier groups to that area. It will take approximately one month to get them all there?
Remember Bush saying earlier this year that there would be no troops brought home during July?
Didn't someone (probably Cid) post an item about US troops being moved to the Iraq-Iran border?
Yes, about 99% of what Fox says is out-of-touch. But, they could be right about 1% of the time-remember that broken clock?

I personally don't trust either the neo-cons or the Iranian leadership. I've seen too many punches pulled in this bout to smell a rat.

I reckon all this hoohaa is for the masses in both cultures. What better than to portray a culture under siege, with yourself as it's valiant defender to keep the masses confused and disoriented. I reckon those boys at the top have us all stitched up whilst they have a fandango of a time behind our backs.

Not saying it "wont happen"

BUT...

Putting TWO ( NOT 6) carriers in the Persian gulf means making two SITTING ducks of them....assuming Iran attacked first...

Better to strike Iran with Hypersonic jets, and stealth bombers...at least for a first strike....

Our carrier fleet is extremely outdated and vulnerable...useful in attacking only unprepared countries w/o proper criuse / Skvall / or even old french missiles...in a pond 180 KM wide at it's zenith...it would be very foolish.

If the take to the cover of the open sea...then maybe...

Lotsa' HYPE...little action for years now...

That does NOT mean they CAN'T or WON'T do it!
