You mean inside a Wall Street company ?
Btu
I will let him answer that.
Yeah I work on wall street, I'm more in the bows with the data machines though, not a trader or anything like that. Truth be told most the people in these places are rather dumb when it comes to the larger picture or having any deep understanding of the market (as most all the jobs in these places are focused towards a small piece of a multi-compartmentalized aspect of the company's business).
Anyhow, I may be on the street soon as more layoffs are coming. Might not be a bad thing as I've been thinking about taking a break and maybe a permanant one from NYC. _________________ Just look at us. Everything is backwards; everything is upside down. Ah, I use to have an office at 55 Water St and then at Merril Lynch's data center on Houston. _________________ "Modern Agriculture is the use of land to convert petroleum into food."

Interesting. I myself implemented trading systems for banks and funds in Sweden and Switzerland just when the stock exchanges went electronic. My impression was the same, the traders themselves have no clue. They are the same as the floor/pit traders in the manual markets. i.e. they just carry out orders from the runners. Behind them are always some team of analysts that have some idea, but anyone can be a trader. (Heard that in England they had a lot of former rugby players as pit traders, just so they could muscle their way through and do the transaction. ) _________________ Lets take a ride, and run with the dogs tonight
