If "it's bunker time" why the fark do you care about the price of gold? You evolved some enzyme that lets you digest the stuff?

Tromso, Norway today...

Regular (unleaded, 95 octane): $10.28/gallon

No demand destruction yet as we're used to paying $7-8/gallon for years...

$3.75 for regular unleaded here today. Went from $3.50 last Saturday, to $3.63 on Monday, then $3.75 today.

Diesel, on the other hand, holding steady at $4.15.

Still lots of traffic (relative to pop. density here), SUVs, pickups etc. I am noticing a few more motorcycles (mine included) and sub-50cc scooters driving around though.

The real question I have is: What is the 'magic' number for gasoline price that REALLY upsets the apple cart?

My guess is $6.xx/gal -- where the price of gas equals minimum wage.'

Streets are busier than ever around here during the day.

Nothing has changed, yet. It will take at least $6 gal.......

How much, in terms of percent, has your price of fuel increased in Euros, or if you use another currency (forgive my ignorance) has fuel increased there?

I'm wondering if the increase you're seeing may have more to do with US dollars devaluing?

Thanks.

In Portugal, we've gone from 1.00 €/litre in 2003 to 1.45 € in 2008, so that's an easy-to-calculate 45%.

Prices went up again in Canada this week. Last week we saw a 12 cent increase and now they are up another 5 from 5.07 to 5.12/gallon. They are predicting 5.68/gallon for summer driving.

I haven't seen much demand deconstruction here yet. Its still just the evil taxes...even tho taxes here are a constant 22 cents per litre. So they don't increase with the price - they stay constant. This seems to be beyond the average person's understanding.

It's $3.55/gallon here in cheap gas New Jersey.

But don't envy us, we pay property taxes, sales taxes, use taxes, tolls and any other thing they can tag us for.

On Wednesday when I went to town, gas was still at $4.23, but diesel was up, at $5.15. Pretty quiet around town...

When the late night comedians (Leno et al.) stop joking about it, it's time to worry.

The Hague, Holland, Europe

Unleaded 95 ("Euro95") : $9.80/gallon

I asked my colleague at work about these prices and he said: "I won't drive any less". Whoop-dee, what a mindset that is...

Fluctuating between $3.969 and $3.999 here. $4.00+ looks like a sure bet for next weekend.
