NYMEX Crude Oil (Light) ........................121.20 5.64 NYMEX NYH RBOB Gasoline (Globex) ...... 3.0421 .1318

Don’t worry, just a little bump - $70 is just around the corner. Short traders just keep making those margin calls, mortgage the house if you have to. Fortunes await you! PO is for pansies and doomers. At $70 short some more ..... it is going back to $22 .... the world is awash with oil ........ reality has nothing to do with it, its all in those charts!!!!!!!!!!

I mulched about a dozen of my fruit trees with wood chips that we chipped last Saturday. Had to do some mowing and pulling of weeds first, then moved a lot of wheelbarrows of chips. I think that I have at least another dozen small trees to do, and then a few more larger trees, and then I hope to have enough chips left to mulch some of the raspberries and grapes. It sure helps keep the weeds down around the trees. Lots of blossoms on the apples and plums, not so many on the pear tree. The discouraging thing is that I haven't seen even one honeybee yet this year, and only a couple of other kinds of bees, including a single bumble bee. I hope more of the small bees show up to pollinate the trees, although some of the apples have way more blossoms than they can support as fruit. The tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers that we transplanted last week are doing great, and most of the potatoes are up, onions doing well, as are lettuce, swiss chard, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, etc. The rabbits did such a job on the raspberries this year, though, that I doubt we will have much of a crop. They ate most of them down to the ground. My son and a couple of friends did have a good meal of rabbit, though, just didn't eat enough of them.

Sat up past midnight sorting, packing and labelling my seeds - I had more than I thought. Hubby and I discussed building a new raised bed yesterday and went to get the lumber for it. Back to work tomorrow - I wonder how long my job's going to last? I could get more stuff accomplished if I didn't have to put in multiple hours a day, but it would REALLY impact the finances!

Still looking for a few acres ....

Regards,

L.

Walking, may also be a good form of preperation. Staying fit and taking the time to really document your immediate environment.

Another draw back of a car based society, is you lose contact with the people in your immediate environment. Most people I meet are getting into thier cars...However, I think that when it comes down to the crunch...those subble contacts go a long way.

Noticed that the bareroot Lapins cherry has flowers on it. Its self fruitful and i plan on eating a few sweet cherries this year!

Have laid 75 pavers in my patio project. I removed a deck a year ago and wasn't sure what i wanted to do with the space. Decided to go this route, because concrete would be to expensive. Still have about 30 more to lay.

Next project is wood stove installation. Have all the pieces except the hearth, which i need to start building.

Planted tomatoes. Notice the blueberries have lots of flowers on them. Raspberries coming up. Blackberries have some leaves. Need to build a heavy duty trellis for them (Triple Crown).

Planted two tomatoes, a cantaloupe and a pumpkin plant.

My grapevines are making leaves! I thought they had died over the winter, but looks like they made it. Very Happy

ETA: I learned that when you buy 50 lbs of something, it's wise to first figure out how you're going to store said 50 lbs. Especially if it comes in a paper bag, which decides to tear ever so slightly as you're dragging it to the closet you choose to store it in.

Fortunately, I have many freezer bags, and no bugs in the house. Tomorrow bright and early will be devoted to filling up freezer bags with rolled oats. Rolling Eyes

I think I talked a friend out of paying good money for plans to "Convert your car to run on Water" . Lots of scams out there now.

You can get sacks of rolled oats at feed stores where it's intended for mixing animal feed, and around here we have a Mennonite store that sells 50 pound sacks of various kinds of wheat, oats, beans, etc. at good prices. It's more expensive that the feed store brands but of higher quality, so if we have the extra money we go for that.

Fortunately it's been rainy here the last few days so I'm being forced to be lazy. I expanded the garden with five new raised beds each 4' by 50', plus another six raised beds 4' x 12' and an asparagus patch about 12' by 20'. Last Monday put out 200 tomato plants, 100 tomatillo plants, 50 kale transplants, 600 row feet of green beans, 100 row feet of pole beans, 40 assorted pepper plants and a few other misc. Pretty beat up this week after completing building the new beds, getting the 6' fence up around the new garden area and getting all the transplants in, old age catching up with me. Thank heaven I'm able to take every monday off work in May and June, that's really helping with getting stuff done this year.
